Flower Island: "Gorgeous, stylish resort with a strong personal touch"
"Stayed three nights here last week, and had an unforgettable time. I think what sets this apart from some of the top end resorts is the personal touch and the tasteful, considered aesthetic. The cottages and restaurant are set back behind the palm trees so as not to create an imposing man made frontage. The use of natural objects like sea shells, bamboo and palms feels, along with the 'ethnic' decor somehow feels more inspired than the cliched attempts you usually see in these sorts of places. (....)the island does genuinely create a special sort of intimacy and calm. I really can not speak highly enough of this place."Tugu Malang: "I’ve never seen a place like this before.."
"I have never seen a hotel like this before. This place is literally a museum, the owner collects antiques from around the world (but mostly Javanese and Cina peranakan), makes the hotel breathes art deco, bohemian, middle east, Javanese, oriental, and Dutch colonial style. It's amazing they have so many collections like chairs from Soekarno's house, 2000+ year old Chinese sculpture, and many ancient Chinaware. Also worth to mentioned: Mata Hari's dancing portrait and a mysterious picture from the black and white Lolita movie. The service is excellent, the staff call me by name and never cease to amaze me by their warm hospitality. The tea time from 4-6 pm is worth to try. They provide Indonesian snacks with selections of tea and coffee. The front office staff are really really nice, they are very helpful and seems like all the staff enjoy what they're doing so the hospitality comes from the heart. Tips: *During the tea time, sit on the balcony to have a better view of the hundred years old giant tree at the hotel facade. *If you stay in the hotel, ask for a hotel tour. Mbak Poppy gave me a tour and she explained thoroughly and patiently about historical background in every item I asked. She also showed me the stunning Apsara suite. Unfortunately the Raden Saleh one was occupied on that day. Thank you, Mbak Poppy! Fun fact: All Indonesia's past and current presidents have been to this hotel."Cuca: "A hidden gem"
You will not stumble across Cuca by accident; it's hidden on a quiet street a few hundred metres back from Jimbaran beach. We booked ahead and secured an outdoor table in the restaurant's garden, which was very peaceful and private. The food was really quite exceptional and exceeded my expectations. The plating, presentation and service rivals any fine dining experience. Please don't miss Cuca if you're in the area.MesaStila: "Must-stay resort in Central Java"
The title says it all: if you travel in, or through, Central Java, you must stay in MesaStila. The resort is beautifully set in a historic coffee plantation in Java's highlands. Expect complete tranquility and Javanese hospitality. The villas are set along gentle slopes within the plantation and nature is never more than a few meters away. The villas have been carefully (re) built in local style and are quite spacious. The various common areas are spread across the property and make for a spacious, tranquil ambiance. Service is highly attentive and yet not intrusive. Last but not least, don't miss out on the spa!Le Calao: "Fantastic meal"
Highly recommend this newly opened restaurant in an old colonial building - service, views, food - everything was great. A bit more expensive than other places in Luang Prabang but absolutely worth it.Locavore: "good ambience. innovatively tasty"
had the vegetarian option. was bowled over by the like of hibiscus flower and forest ferns. Hadnt expected them to be tasty! Also enjoyed the complimentary pre-main-event "appetizers" which filled me!The Cabochon Hotel: "Peace in the middle of the madness"
"Stayed for 3 days recently and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was considering its location a stones throw from the Sukhumvit Rd. The most impressive thing was the size of the room. We were in a corner room which is in fact 2 rooms so plenty of space for 2 people. The rooms at the back of the hotel are even quieter but ours on the 1st floor was dark despite there being plenty of Windows as it looked straight out onto some high bamboo which meant there was little natural light during the day. However on the 2nd we were able to move to the same size room on the opposite side which was perfect. The furnishings are comfortable and tasteful, the bed linens good quality and the shower had great water pressure. All things I look for in a hotel. The rooftop pool was a good place to escape in the afternoon when it was too hot to walk around. It was cooler on the roof than in the streets. The pool is a perfect size for lap swimming although a bit narrow for more than a couple of people. I was initially concerned that the buffet breakfast is served in the library/sitting room area with only arm chairs to sit in which makes it awkward for eating but there are a couple of tables outside which we managed to get each morning. We ate dinner in the restaurant on our first evening. It has an extensive menu and the kitchen with it's too chefs was visible so you knew you were getting everything freshly prepared. The staff are all extremely courteous and helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates something a little different from the generic impersonal corporate hotels usually associated with cities."4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Wonderful stay!!"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in this relaxing, peaceful location, close to nature and local people. Comfortable accommodation with the river to dip into. We can recommend the kayaking trip and the Tatai Waterfall, where we swam in the river before choosing to kayak part of the return journey.Great fun and exhilarating! We loved the Fireflies we were so lucky to see them in full glory close to the Lodges. The staff and guides at Four Rivers are dedicated to the care of the guests, courteous, friendly and quietly enthusiastic. The food was good, especially our freshly caught clams that were cooked for us that evening and so delicious!"Flower Island Resort: "Little island of paradise!"
We stayed three nights in Flower Island in March 2015. We really enjoyed, the staff was very friendly and committed to make your stay like a being in paradise. The snorkeling experience was amazing, best we had in Palawan! Just few meters from our room, with all equipments available for free at the hotel! Nice breakfast with fresh mango every day! Dinner food could have been better, but ok!Summertime Villa: "A true garden of Eden"
"I spent 3 truly stunning nights in Summertime a few months back. I waited a while to write this review to see if my opinion would change over time. It hasn't. This stay was a transformative experience. Built with love by a couple still in love, Summertime is an oasis of peace in one of the most beautiful region of India. Wild peacocks all around, graceful birds endlessly plunging in the infinity pool for a brief splash, beautiful gardens, a koi pond, a majestic living/dining room, 3 enormous bedrooms with ensuites and walk in closets and wonderful staff all awaited to make my stay one of the great experiences of my traveling life. I cannot recommend enough the warm and welcoming hospitality of Hans and Sucheta."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
