Cuca: "Oasis in Jimbaran"
Dinner at Cuca after reading review in a Dining Magazine. 3 adults and 3 children aged 14, 8 & 4 (Bit nervous!!!) Unfounded! Greeted and welcomed like family! Shown to our table and children immediately given colouring books, pencils and "kids" table setting including crockery and cutlery! Choose the degustation menu (I am Pescatarian) and was fully catered for without an issue. Each meal was out of this world! The taste, quality of produce was simply amazing! The mushrooms and scallops my favourite, the corn being my sisters favourite! All in all a beautiful meal and experience from start to finish. All staff attentive and made the night extra special! Would go back for lunch and dinner in a heartbeat! Would be amazing in the day sitting outside in the gardens! We will be back! The Apsara Rive Droite: "I think it’s the only place in town to stay"
"I travel a lot in Asia and this is one of my must stay hotels. it has one thing in spades and that's that elusive thing called style. The staff are great if a trifle dotty, the rooms are comfy, the wine list is amazing and the food is great. You won't find a better place in town to hang out. It might not be everyone's idea of luxury but I've never thought that luxury involved looking at in room tea and coffee making facilities. Room Tip: I like downstairs but them i'm nosey"Maison Polanka: "A HAVEN OF PEACE AND COMFORT"
"I wish we could claim responsibility for finding this hotel on line and booking it ourselves. But it was all done for us, and from the moment we stepped inside the sanctuary of its garden we were pampered, spoilt and generally looked after in a way which we often dream of but rarely experience. This really is one of a kind, with setting, accommodation, staff, food and service to match. If you can get a room - and there are only five - then this is a must-stay hotel. My only regret is that we are unlikely to return to Cambodia, but have been left with lasting memories. Room Tip: Any room you can book will be fantastic"The Village House: "Borneo Adventure"
After 2 weeks of exploring Borneo this hotel provided the ideal rest and relaxation before flying home. We really enjoyed chilling out in the big recliners and the hammocks. Don't be put off by the initial setting, inside it truly is a gem and the food was the best of our whole holiday. The staff were friendly and the accommodation clean and tidy. Also don't miss the sunsets over the South China Sea.Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "To stay to write a book"
A wonderful place, at the foot of Annapourna in the Himalayas. How to forget it? The atmosphere is of absolute relaxation, 45 minutes (car or van) from the charming town of Pokhara. In this lodge the purity of the world's most impressive mountains breathe. Snowy summits eternally contrast with the more than enjoyable place microclimate. To stay to write a book. Accommodation includes full board, which allows share with other guests tables and dining terrace. Attention is dedicated and permanent. clean air, which widens the spirit breathes.Misool Eco Resort: "Beyond my expectations"
"We got used to spend our vacations in upscale botique resorts. That's why i had to dig internet quite intensively prior to making up our mind to choose this resort. Due to it's location i was sure that the nature would be at it's best. However i had doubts about the quality of accommodation and services we would get in comparison to our previous vacations. After the vacation i would say that everything was beyond my expectations. Misool Eco Resort is a boutique resort with a max. capacity of 40 guests. Luckily during our stay there were only three couples. The resort has 3 personnel to 1 guest ratio. Probably during our stay this ratio was 5 or 6 to 1. Furthermore Mark(GM), Sue(Dept. GM) and Calvin(Guest Operations Manager) were available 24/7 for any problems/questions we might have. We stayed in the Tabisasu villa just because we wanted some extra space and extra privacy and we were totally satisfied with our choice. We had problems to get used to sleep on new beds even at upscale resorts. Here we slept perfectly from day one till the end. I think this was not just because we got tired of daily diving/snorkeling activities but the beds and pillows were really very good quality. Considering resorts remote location we were really satisfied with the variety and quality of food. We like to ear local food when we travel to Indonesia. Here all local stuff with noodles, rice etc were very tasty. In addition frequently we had western cuisine like burgers, pizzas etc. And of course diving and snorkelling - which were our main aims of the trip to Raja Ampat were perfect. We had personnel dive and snorkel guides which we ordered in advance. However the other couples also had one guide per couple. The reefs were arguably the best, the most healthy coral reefs we have ever seen. Full of life! Both macro and pelagic. One just need to show the dive guide what he is interested to see and the guide finds it unless it is a polar beer or dugong(which unfortunately do not live here) We were very lucky with our dive guide Kiikii and snorkelling guide Nelson as well as captains Samsul and Fikram. If you have underwater photo/video equipment this resort has very convenient camera room and was very comfortable for us to prepare our cameras for the dives. The only negative side of this resort for me is the lack of mobile network. But this can be a positive fact for many who would like to have a break from daily routine. For whom the presence of communication is a must taking an Iridium satellite phone is the only solution. By the way there is awkwardly slow internet however its good enough for communication via whatsapp, viber, messenger or similar apps which really helped. We have been in Indonesia 7 times in previous vacations. Since we read that west Papua is a risky zone for Malaria we decided to take pills as a precaution. Especially after rain in the evenings we felt the presence of mosquitos. We were told that since the island is 5 hours boat ride from Sorong there are no infected mosquitos at the resort. This actually sounds logical because the staff working here would get infected for sure since they would not be allowed to use pills agains malaria daily for years. However since a stop over in Sorong is also required i would recommend to use pills for this trip.We had one tablet of Malarone per day and no side effects. Other than diving and snorkelling with did the excursion to the view point and cave. I recommend it. But be warned that the health and safety standards are different than the ones you are familiar with.(and this was told in the resort in advance) In my opinion the view is worth it anyway. :-) One final advise - on the way to resort i organised our flight schedule in order to avoid one night stay at Sorong.(which is unavoidable on the way back) However the guests who did this arrived the resort after the 4.5 hours boat trip a lot fresher than us. The Swiss Bell Hotel which is booked by Misool Eco Resort is quite satisfactory to spend the night in Sorong. Room Tip: Tabisasu has extra space and nice view to the ocean and islands around. More privacy while still ver..."Maduzi Hotel: "Boutique elegance off Sukhumvit"
The hotel is small, at just 40 rooms and is situated on a triangular corner site beside Soi 16, hence the unusual layout of some rooms. It is packed with interesting objets d'art. When I arrived, I was upgraded to a corner suite, which was just delightful. The bed was an enormous California king, I had a big desk and chair, armchair, breakfast table and 2 chairs, plus a huge ensuite with shower and jacuzzi bath. The toilet was separate and there was even a luggage room on its own. All decorated with understated stylish panache. Also in the room was an espresso maker, CD player and a free minibar of soft drinks and some snacks. Breakfast was served in the downstairs restaurant. While individual dishes were interesting, with a European influence, I must say I was disappointed by the portion size. I would have preferred a buffet, but maybe that is not an economic option in a hotel that size. It is 5 minutes easy walk to Asok station on the BTS. Staff service was friendly and individualistic. Would definitely like to revisit.Villa Song Saigon: "A fabulous oasis in this noisy city"
"Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh City to be PC) is a large, noisy, chaotic city. It was a relief, therefore, to find our accommodation was away from the madness, right on the river and the general ambience of the hotel reflected its location. Fabulous food and cocktails, a lovely setting, a stunning pool, very friendly staff... all in all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in Vietnam. Stayed November 2016, traveled with friends"Mume: "Food is very delicious! I will visit again!"
Currently ranked #43 on the Asia Top 50 Restaurants, food at Mume is very delicious. The menu is ala carte, and the selections are short and easy to decide. The cooking is European-Asian fusion. Using a combination of Taiwanese ingredients and Nordic influences to deliver a modern, light cuisine. All the dishes I ordered were very good. I wish to order more, but I had a big lunch and dinner at Mume was early at 6pm. Great service. Will visit again. The restaurant is small. Please make reservation ahead.Maison Polanka: "Excellent Boutique Hotel in Siem Reap"
Maison Polanka is an excellent choice for a small boutique hotel in Siem Reap. The very spacious grounds provide an oasis from the bustling town outside the walled compound. We stayed for 3 nights. I chose the wonderful Khmer House, which is beautifully decorated and provides a very unique experience, which is well worth the extra expense. It has a large bedroom and living area, a large balcony with chairs, a spacious bathroom and closet, and a tiled sitting area below the house. Our son had one of the rooms in the main house, and was upgraded on arrival. We had breakfasts here and one lunch and one dinner. The food is excellent. The pool is very nice. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and helped with restaurant recommendations. I would highly recommend Maison Polanka to anyone staying in Siem Reap.
