BOOK

Puri Ganesha Homes by the Beach is a masterpiece of barefoot luxury. The vision of a remarkable woman, Diana von Cranach, renowned as Asia's Top Raw Food Chef she can also list designer, food consultant, author, interior designer and Egyptologist to her list of skills. At Puri Ganesha she has thoughtfully designed, built and set 4 stunning two-storey pool villas to make the best of the ocean views on this gorgeously off the beaten path stretch of coastline in northwest Bali. Each villa is positioned within an acre of garden to ensure privacy and serenity for guests, and with a choice of one, two or three bedrooms all with amazing sea views there is a villa to suit every occasion, from solo getaways to family get togethers.

The villas are set with spacious bathrooms, cool terracotta floors and a large private swimming pool each. Beautifully decorated interiors include pieces of art and antiques, collected on Diana’s many travels creating a warm, homely space. All 4 of the villas are also fitted with air conditioning, a full kitchen, living space, butler and maid, wifi and a shady open-air garden pavilion set near the pool. The West Bali National Park famed for its mixed environments and birdlife is a short drive to the west, and the uninhabited paradise of Menjangan Island is just a few miles away, offering truly stunning scuba diving on the reefs surrounding the island.

A passionate advocate of the Slow Food movement and keen supporter of keeping it local, Diana and her team source the freshest seasonal ingredients from her local community for their restaurant, ‘Umbi’. Offering menus for vegans and pescatarians Diana celebrates the best of Bali’s produce on every plate. And her best-selling book, “Rawfully Good: Living Flavours of Southeast Asia” shares Diana’s secrets on delicious and creative ways to dine with raw food. The hotel shares Bali’s secrets with guests in creative experiences, offers dining in-villa or in the restaurant and also offers spa services to guests.

Your Host and The Team

A Raw Food Chef - Life is never boring around Diana. One of those rare individuals who you know could turn their hand to anything and be successful, Diana has packed more into her life so far than most of us mere mortals could pack into 20 full lifetimes. A writer, a whizz in the kitchen, a food visionary, an Egyptologist, an interior designer and a hotelier, if this woman ever slows down be sure to try and sit and share a cocktail with her as she could add raconteur to that list of skills too. Diana is a Cordon Bleu trained chef who always thinks outside the box and has always forged her own culinary path in Asia, inspired by her love of Asian flavours and the enormous variety of beautiful fresh produce, herbs, vegetables and fruit. She’s an internationally acclaimed raw food chef and health cuisine consultant and has written and produced a book championing raw food that was very well received – Rawfully Good: ‘Living’ Flavours of Southeast Asia.”

“Four elegant and beautifully appointed beachfront pool villas with superb restaurant using only the freshest in-season local ingredients. Puri Ganesha Homes by the Beach offers laid-back luxury living where privacy and serenity are assured. Located near a quiet traditional Balinese fishing village well off the beaten path in stunning Northwest Bali. This is Bali living as it should be.”
Kim, the discoverer.

Rooms

House Santai (1 bedroom)

At 370sqm of private space and set a little further away from the other houses, House Santai is the perfect honeymoon house. It is dedicated in design and theme to the Danish ‘gentleman pirate known as Mads Lange or ‘the King of Bali’. The fabrics, mainly red, black and white are hand woven gringsing from East Bali, together with golden threaded songket from Singaraja. The upstairs master bedroom is set perfectly with an antique four poster bed, a separate dressing room and a shower bathroom. A huge day bed and antique dining table furnish the downstairs living area with a small kitchen and open garden bathroom. 370sqm of private areas – ideal for honeymoon. The garden features a private swimming pool with sun loungers and shady Balinese pavilion. This villa comfortably sleeps up to 2 guests.

House Sepi (2 bedrooms)

Decorated with peaceful sepias, blues and white hand painted and printed ikat fabrics from East Java, the interior design is reminiscent of the atmospheric paintings of the Dutch artist W.O.J. Nieuwenkamp (1874 – 1950). Nieuwenkamp was one of the first foreign artists to live in Bali and also the owner of one of the first bicycles on the island – the moment immortalized in a carving of him on his bike on the wall of Pura Meduwe Karang temple, Kubutambahan near Singaraja. House Sepi has a master bedroom with dressing room and shower bathroom upstairs, and a double or twin bedroom with a large open garden bathroom downstairs. The garden features a private swimming pool with sun loungers and shady Balinese pavilion. This villa comfortably sleeps up to 4 adults and 1 child.

House Senyum (2 bedrooms)

Dedicated to the famed Belgian artist Le Mayeur, this house has the master bedroom and bathroom upstairs, with a double or twin bedroom facing the beach and a twin garden bathroom with two four poster beds downstairs. The beautiful rainbow colours used by the artist are repeated in the pinks and chartreuse greens of the fabrics used throughout the house. A delightful terrace, facing the pool and beach, is set under the thatched eaves of the first floor and provides the perfect place to wile away a sunny afternoon. The garden features a private swimming pool with sun loungers and shady Balinese pavilion. This villa comfortably sleeps up to 4 adults and 1 child.

House Senang (3 bedroom)

This house is inspired by the artistic and musical legacy of the famous German musician and painter Walter Spies (1895 – 1942) who moved to Ubud after living in Yogyakarta in 1927. At this time many artists and anthropologists from all over the world were attracted to Bali and set up homes there. Finding his social life too hectic, surrounded by the artists of his Pita Maha co-operative, Spies moved to peaceful Iseh in East Bali in 1937 and lived there for a while, painting his dreamlike landscapes that influenced many local Balinese artists, until he was deported in World War II.

House Senang has the same basic layout as Sepi, but includes an additional pavillion which houses the third bedroom, a double or twin garden bedroom with large open bathroom downstairs and a terrace. All the fabrics in this house are cheerful oranges, purples and green weaves and handcrafted batiks from all over Indonesia. The garden features a private swimming pool with sun loungers and shady Balinese pavilion. This villa comfortably sleeps up to 6 adults and 1 child.
