Anhar Setjadibrata – Keeper of Indonesian Art
The quintessential Renaissance Man, Anhar Setiadibrata is a hotelier, physician, lawyer and the owner of a priceless collection of fine Indonesian art and cultural antiquities. His passion for Indonesian art and history began while he was a young medical student in Java and today has turned into the stunning group of Tugu Hotels that now showcase his art collection.Anhar began collecting antiques in 1972 at the age of 25 when he was a medical representative for an international pharmaceutical company and travelled to visit doctors in small villages. During these visits, he had the opportunity to explore Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Timor and Borneo, and came across many people who were discarding priceless antiquities and cultural relics. They believed these historical treasures to be out of style and old-fashioned. Anhar, however, saw the beauty and rich history of these artefacts. His endless search for cultural antiquities began as a quest, fueled by his youthful idealism to learn the history of his country. He never thought of collecting for profit, but as a way to save these treasures and a tangible piece of Indonesia’s history. As his collection grew, Anhar realised the artefacts needed to be shared and opened his first boutique museum hotel, Tugu in east Java city of Malang, in 1989.

Bhagavat Gita Oceanfront Suite
These suites are housed in a beautiful building from the colonial era, with high thatched ceilings, tall antique doors and furnishings, large private tropical gardens with a fish and lotus pond, outdoor bathing areas with tubs carved out of boulders, oversized rainshowers, and large private plunge pools overlooking the ocean and beautiful beachfront. Each room has an oversized king bed. Other facilities include: iPod, DVD player, and hidden 42-inch flatscreen television. The total area of each unit is between 350 m² and 400 m².

Aloon Aloon Garden Villa
These sumptuous individual buildings are surrounded by tropical gardens. Each has its own garden, outdoor dining and lazing areas, and spacious oversized copper sunken tubs. The total area of each unit is between 120 m² and 140 m². Each comes with tree-trunk king size bed or water hyacinth root king size bed, rustic bamboo lamps, Ipod, DVD player, large flatscreen television and custom-made rainshower.

Kampong Lombok Bungalow
This bungalow has an intimate traditional Lombok atmosphere, blending authentic island village characters of bamboo and wood with tropical luxuries. The total indoor and outdoor area of the Kampong bungalow is approximately 60 m².

Swarga
Sumptuous units each in individual buildings facing an open-air, outdoor hall of beautiful giant Rama Sinta statues, surrounded by lush tropical trees. Each has its own terrace, outdoor dining area, semi-outdoor baths with garden, round tubs and oversized rain showers. The total area is between 120m2 and 140m2. Each unit is fully air-conditioned and features beautiful artworks and oversized beds.
Shanghyang Nirvana and Jagatnata
With private large plunge pools and jacuzzis, spacious sundecks, private gardens that can host private functions, bath areas that face the green hills of the neighboring golf course, and decorated with beautiful Indonesian antiques and artworks, these two villas are fronting the white sand beach and situated just a few meters from the sea.

We Care
To support a nearby coral reef, the hotel has also built a unique artistic Biorock structure that aims to generate new marine life. Guests can access it by swimming or canoeing to the site, and then snorkel to see the growing colourful corals and sea creatures. It also features a floating area to sunbathe on or enjoy some shade under the roof's solar panels. Eventually, these corals will cover the entire underwater Barong-shaped structure to form Tugu's logo.
Tugu Lombok recycles used cans, bottles, plastic and candles. Wastewater from the kitchen and laundry is used for gardening, and paper is recycled into bags and wrapping paper. They also support the community by buying all their fresh produce from local farms/markets. 95% of their staff are from Lombok. Guests wishing to participate in Tugu Lombok's local endeavours can help support the turtle farm, pearl farm, local dance/culture, or plant trees.
