We Care

Ecolodges Indonesia (ELI) has prioritized ecological sustainability as a core aspect of its mission since its establishment in 1996, formulating stringent eco-standards grounded in the "Six Pillars of Eco-tourism." Following the attainment of international Green Globe certification, ELI developed its own extensive Eco Standards System, which employs 57 specific metrics—including solar energy utilization, water purification, and carbon footprint evaluation—to evaluate and consistently enhance the environmental performance of each lodge. Each lodge is assessed annually and benchmarked against top international ecolodges, with recent improvements at Rimba and Kelimutu attributed to solar energy installations. ELI’s methodology underscores ecological management, collaboration with communities, local job creation, and conservation efforts, having designated over 60 hectares of land as wildlife sanctuaries. Their quantifiable eco-friendly practices encompass the optimization of solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and grey water recycling, all designed to reduce environmental impact and bolster local communities.
