A stone’s throw from the river down a quiet lane away from the main road, is the internationally acclaimed Nen restaurant Danang. Having first opened to the public in 2017, Nen Restaurant was quick to earn a stellar reputation as one of the places to visit for those seeking Vietnamese fine dining in Danang. Forced into hiatus because of the impact of Covid-19 from 2021 to 2022, Nen restaurant was able to reopen its doors in August 2023 and regain its reputation for serving the freshest flavors using the finest local ingredients on a menu inspired by Vietnamese tradition. At the heart of Nen restaurant Da Nang is founder and executive chef, Summer Le. Drawing on a successful career as a food blogger, Chef Le brings a fascination for Vietnamese culinary traditions to her innovative and often avant-garde creations. Each course served tells its own story, something Chef Le hopes sets Nen Danang fine dining apart from other top restaurants in the city and the rest of the country.

Nen Restaurant’s trademarked “Sto:ry Menus” are constantly updated and allow diners to experience a range of narratives through dishes specially prepared to convey stories that have been inspired by Vietnamese culture, tradition, and philosophy. Nén Danang can guarantee only the freshest seasonal ingredients make it to the table as the restaurant has its own farm, quite literally on its doorstep. The Nen Farm champions sustainable agriculture and supplies the kitchen with a wide variety of vegetables, fruit, herbs, and edible flowers. A commitment to hyper-local ingredients means every component at Nen Restaurant Danang offers an authentic Vietnamese flavor. Nén Restaurant – An Avant-Garde Addition to Vietnamese Fine Dining in Danang

Among the delights to be found on the Nen Restaurant ‘Light’ menu is the ‘kaleidoscope’, a dish that Chef Le says proved difficult to create but was determined to get right because kaleidoscopes represent such an important analogy for life as no two kaleidoscope images can ever be the same and every turn of the cylinder produces a million random facets of light. Other treats on the Nen fine dining menu demand similar complicated approaches to highlight the essence of Vietnam’s unique flavors and Chef Le’s team are given the freedom to explore, craft, and create the exquisite dishes served to the tables of Nen restaurant’s diners.

Nén Danang – The First Vietnamese Restaurant to be Awarded the MICHELIN Green Star
Nén Danang’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and outstanding gastronomy caught the attention of the highly selective team at MICHELIN who only award the MICHELIN Green Star to restaurants that meet exacting environmental and ethical standards. Nen restaurant Da Nang has consistently shown a dedication to working with sustainable suppliers and producers, eliminating non-recyclable materials from the restaurant and throughout their supply chain, and implementing zero-waste practices. What set Nen Restaurant apart from other Vietnamese fine dining restaurants in Danang to earn the award in 2024, was Michelin’s recognition of Nen Restaurant Danang’s combination of culinary excellence, exquisite dining experience, and eco-friendly commitment that is an inspiration not only to keen foodies but also to the whole of the hospitality industry.

Nen Restaurant Da Nang’s sister restaurant in Saigon, the Nen Light Restaurant, has also caught the attention of MICHELIN and has been recognized for its outstanding contribution just a year after opening its doors. And it is unlikely that the accolades will stop there as Chef Le recently announced that she and her team would be taking their Vietnamese “Sto:ry Menus” cultivated at Nen restaurant Da Nang to an eager audience in Japan. Chef Le said that receiving the MICHELIN Green Star has given her the confidence to continue developing the stories of Vietnam through her creations to diners as well as using Nen Restaurant as a way of introducing more customers to sustainable cuisine. However, the Green Star will not distract Chef Le and Nén Danang from the long-term mission to remain authentic by not following trends or copying others and continuing to embrace local ingredients, local farmers, and local culture.
