We Care

Topas Ecolodge in Sapa is a model of sustainable tourism, one that prioritizes environmental care, community empowerment, and education. A Danish-Vietnamese partnership, Topas employs over 100 local staff (primarily ethnic minorities), and provides housing, training, and career growth opportunities (e.g., Mr. Hai, a former laborer turned English-speaking guide), and collaborates with nearby farmers for farm-to-table dining across its three restaurants. Environmental initiatives include saltwater infinity pools, a glass-crushing machine (repurposing bottles into construction sand), constructed wetlands (natural wastewater treatment), and eco-bungalows with rainwater recycling systems. The lodge minimizes energy use via hydropower, shares resources (food waste for livestock, recyclables for households), and sponsors local schools while hosting educational programs with organizations like UNIS Hanoi. Eco Tokens incentivize guest participation in sustainability, and events like the Vietnam Mountain Marathon directly benefit communities through donations and partnerships. By integrating local needs, eco-innovation, and responsible tourism, Topas strengthens its role as a key employer and environmental steward in the region.
