BOOK

Nestled within the tranquil grounds of Puri Ganesha on Bali's unspoilt northwest coast, Umbi Kitchen is an intimate destination restaurant where every meal celebrates the richness of the Indonesian archipelago. Taking its name from the Indonesian word for "roots," Umbi reflects both the importance of local ingredients and a deep respect for the traditions, farmers and communities that shape Indonesia's extraordinary culinary heritage. Created by acclaimed chef and author Diana Von Cranach, Umbi offers thoughtfully crafted five- and seven-course pescetarian and vegan tasting menus inspired by seasonal produce sourced from local fishermen, farmers and artisan producers. Guided by her "Clean, Green" philosophy, each dish showcases natural flavours, vibrant textures and indigenous ingredients, inviting guests to discover the remarkable diversity of Indonesia one course at a time. As a member of the international Slow Food movement, Umbi Kitchen is committed to sustainable gastronomy. Every ingredient is carefully selected with respect for the people who grow and harvest it, while the restaurant's long-standing commitment to minimising waste and reducing plastic reflects a genuine dedication to responsible dining. More than a restaurant, Umbi offers an immersive culinary experience where nature, culture and sustainability come together in one of Bali's most peaceful settings.

A Destination Rooted in Nature

Umbi Kitchen offers an intimate dining experience far removed from Bali's busier tourist centres. Surrounded by greenery and cooled by sea breezes, the restaurant embraces the peaceful rhythm of Bali's northwest coast. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, allowing guests to slow down and fully appreciate each carefully prepared course. Whether enjoying lunch surrounded by tropical gardens or an intimate candlelit dinner, every meal reflects the warmth, generosity and authenticity that define Puri Ganesha. Indonesia on a Plate: Umbi Kitchen celebrates the extraordinary diversity of Indonesian cuisine through seasonal pescetarian and vegan tasting menus that highlight the country's indigenous ingredients and regional culinary traditions.

Chef Diana Von Cranach places fresh local produce at the centre of every dish. Sustainably sourced seafood, tropical vegetables, aromatic herbs, spices and native roots are transformed into refined contemporary creations that remain deeply connected to their origins. Each course explores layers of flavour, texture and colour while taking guests on a culinary journey across the Indonesian archipelago. Respect for ingredients extends beyond the kitchen. Umbi honours the farmers, fishermen and artisans behind every ingredient, creating a dining experience that is both sustainable and deeply rooted in place.

The Chef and the Brigade

“For me, cooking begins with respect—for nature, for the people who grow our food and for Indonesia's extraordinary culinary traditions. Through Umbi Kitchen, I hope every guest discovers the beauty of our local ingredients and leaves with a deeper appreciation of the flavours, cultures and stories that make this archipelago so unique.”

“Umbi Kitchen is unlike any other restaurant in Bali. Chef Diana has created a thoughtful dining experience where sustainability and Indonesian culinary heritage take centre stage. Every course tells a story through remarkable local ingredients, making Umbi not only a memorable meal but also a genuine journey through the flavours of the archipelago.”
Kim, the discoverer.

Atmosphere

Surrounded by tropical gardens within the peaceful grounds of Puri Ganesha, Umbi Kitchen offers an intimate and relaxed setting where nature becomes part of the dining experience. The open-air environment, attentive service and tranquil atmosphere encourage guests to slow down and savour every course, making each meal feel personal and immersive.
