Feel and smell the tropical humidity, see the magic light through the tall trees and large leaves, hear the sound of wildlife, and approach orangutans, but also many species of birds, proboscis monkeys, gibbons, crocodiles… even Irrawaddy dolphins.

This itinerary can be combined with an arrival from 3 airports only: Jakarta, Surabaya or Semarang . It is a great extension to a discovery of Sumatra, a stay in Yogyakarta or an exploration of East Java.
The trips to see orangutans in Borneo can be a life-changing experience, offering an opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Arriving at the Lodge jetty, you will already feel the jungle all around. The jetty connects to all rooms, the reception area, office, and restaurant by a series of covered boardwalks.
After check-in at the riverfront room (Diamond), dinner will be served, offering local and Indonesian specialties. The food was amazing, featuring fresh ingredients and traditional recipes.
After lunch at the lodge, you will walk again in the afternoon to Tanjung Harapan feeding station to see more orangutans and continue with a walk to Harapan Village before returning to Rimba for a good shower and dinner. The lodge provides comfortable accommodation with mosquito nets to ensure a good night's sleep.
The boat crew includes the boatman, a cook, and an English-speaking guide. Your first stop is the rehabilitation center for orangutans at Tanjung Harapan.
After lunch, you can witness the orangutan feeding time at 15.00. Later in the quiet afternoon, as the klotok slowly moves upstream, you can observe monkeys along the riverside or sometimes crocodiles. The captain will then choose a spot to moor for the night; dinner will be served after sunset and overnight on the boat.
Then proceed to Camp Leakey, established in 1971 by Professor Birute Galdikas, a student of Professor Louis Leakey. Walking through the rainforest, you often see orangutans, gibbons, butterflies, and birds.
After lunch on the boat, you will have the opportunity to take a small trek before seeing feeding time at 14.00 pm for older rehabilitation orangutans.
After dinner on board, you might also take a night safari to see tarsiers, glowing mushrooms, fireflies, and perhaps owls. Overnight on the boat. These best orangutan tours offer an immersive experience, allowing you to connect with nature deeply.
After disembarking (depending on your flight time), we drive you back to Pangkalan Bun airport.
