This journey has been personally designed by Lamphoune Voravongsa, owner of Satri House and Lao Poet Hotels, passionate to share her knowledge about Lao culture, art and traditions.

All our itineraries have generally been constructed on the basis of the rooms that have the most charm or best view, and not necessarily the first prices, nor the most expensive suites.

Discover 2 capitals of Laos: the cultural capital and UNESCO town Luang Prabang with a French colonial touch and the country’s capital mixing traditions and modernity, with a stay in a real urban jungle retreat. Both destinations are connected by the Mighty Mekong River. The itinerary can start or end in Vientiane.

Your Journey Day by Day

Day 1 : Airport to Vientiane (-/-/-)

After welcoming you on arrival at Vientiane Airport. Short drive (20mn) to Lao Poet Hotel and check in for 2 nights. Follow your host through a visit of the property. No other arrangements for the day, so you can relax by the pool of the roof top, or go for a walk around, Vientiane is a pleasant city to walk. Dinner, at leisure.

Day 2 : Vientiane (B/-/-)

Today, after breakfast adapt to the laid-back lifestyle of Vientiane. Unlike other hectic capital cities in Asian Vientiane, located on the right bank of the lazy Mekong, is languid and so this is great opportunity to slow down without guilt and enjoy a quiet morning. After lunch, a guide will pick you up for half day sightseeing visit around the city by car – the program is not fixed, and the guide will propose some temples, monuments, Buddha park... Back to the hotel before dinner.

Day 3 : Vientiane - Luang Prabang (B/-/-)

After breakfast, a driver will drop you at the airport to catch your flight to Luang Prabang (the price of the ticket is not included, but we can assist you to select your domestic flight- 1 hr). Upon landing, a driver will wait for you at Luang Prabang Airport and drive you to Satri House (15mn) for check-in. In the afternoon, we suggest to relax and enjoy a Lao Massage at the Spa at Satri House (one hour for each guest) No arrangement for dinner.

HOTEL: Satri House (Deluxe Room)

Day 4 & 5 : Luang Prabang (B/-/D)

During the 2 full days in Luang Prabang, no specific arrangements have been made, we can decide on site together with the concierge at Satri House. We recommend to wake up just before sunrise one morning for the ritual offering to the Monks in the old part of the town. If you wish, Satri House team can prepare some offerings for you. You should leave the hotel at 5.30am to the main street in the center of the old town. Ask for a briefing on the signification and the “procedure”, before participating, as a respect for the monks then take position on the sidewalk.

You may take a bicycle from the hotel and go around the town, stop to visit temples, the market or museums. Unless you prefer to go by walk. Or simply relax in the hotel by one of the 2 pools or the lotus ponds. A Tasting Menu at Paste restaurant will be arranged one of these two evenings. The menu is included in the package, we recommend to ask us to book the table before arriving in Luang Prabang.

Day 6 : Airport- Departure (B/-/-)

After breakfast and depending on your flight time, a driver will drop you at the airport.

VISA – Most countries do need visa for Laos (granted on arrival for 35 USD + 1 photo ID), Application also possible at the embassy in your country. We recommend you to check when you issue air tickets. Please make sure your passport is valid for 6 months beyond your departure date.
Domestic flight between Vientiane and Luang Prabang.
Other meals that are not included in the program.
