Discover The Old Capital of Laos: Luang Prabang
- A Secret Retreats journey -
This journey has been personally designed by Lamphoune Voravongsa, owner of Satri House in Luang Prabang, passionate to share her knowledge about Lao culture, art, history and traditions.
We can of course adjust according to your request.
Highlights of the Journey:
- Morning alms to the monks at sunrise
- Botanical garden and UNESCO cultural heritage town
Just like the mosaics that covers some of its Temples, Luang Prabang is a quiet town that offers local Lao history, great cuisine and spiritual nourishment. Located at the confluence of the Mekong River and the Nam Khan, the peninsula is a UNESCO protected gem's heritage of 33 gilded wats, saffron-clad monks, French colonial style villas, encircled by forest, hazy green hills and waterfalls. Even with many visitors, the town remains a sleepy and friendly village, like if time has stood still here.

Lunch (extra charge) can be enjoyed at the restaurant at the Botanical Garden – slow food farm to table. And you can decide to take a boat around 3.30pm (5.30pm is the last boat) to come back to town. Back to the hotel for the rest of the day... and enjoy your evening. You may go to the night street market for a walk. We can recommend some tables for dinner (ask us).

A driver will wait for you around 7pm to drive you to Paste Lao, a unique dining experience serving a creative plant-based Lao food. This is historical Lao food, based on authentic historical Lao recipes and a tweak of modern creativity to layer and shape the dishes. Set menu (alcoholic beverage will be charged extra). The driver will wait for you after dinner to come back to Satri house for the last night.
