Nias Island is still one of the best kept secrets of the Indonesian Archipelago. Off the beaten track, the island is located at the West of North Sumatra Province, just above the Mentawai islands. Discovered by adventurous surfers for the quality of its world-class waves, the island stretches over 120km from North to South and offers much more than beautiful beaches: a rich traditional culture, green hills, waterfalls, megalithic sites... This journey is a low impact ecotourism adventure through the island, which can be connected to other adventure in the Jungle of Sumatra or the Minangkabau region very easily.

Day 1 : Nias Airport - Teluk Dalam (-/-/-)
Upon your arrival at Binaka Gunung Sitoli Airport by Wings Air, your guide will welcome you and you will be driving towards the south to Lagundri beach located in Teluk Dalam, (about 2h15 drive). The beach is best known among surfers. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful panoramas crossing several villages of the island.
Check-in and relax.

Day 2 : Lagundri – Bawomataluo - Lagundri (B/-/-)
After breakfast, departure for a day trip to Botohilitano and the traditional village of Bawomataluo with the king's house in solid wood. The village is perched on the highland of Nias (over 80 steps) with great views all around and several rows of houses built some hundred years ago. Local attraction is the stone jump, where some young man leap a 2 meters high stone structure. Later we continue with the traditional villages of Orahili and Hilisimaetano which have remained very authentic.
Return to Teluk Dalam the afternoon and free tome for the rest of the day.

Day 3 : Lahusa – Satu - Tetegewo (B/-/-)
After breakfast, departure for a day trip to discover the oldest megalith sites at Lahusa, Satu, Tetegewo, Tuhegeowe and Tundru Baho. The Megalith, based on carbon research, are dated to the Stone Age, or around 3500 years ago, one of the oldest sites of this importance in Southeast Asia. The stones were erected during important events (weddings, founding of a new village…), as the native people believed in Animism and Dynamism and trusted in spirits and carved ancestral statues.
In the afternoon return to the hotel.

Day 4 : Lagundri – Gunung Sitoli (B/-/-)
Enjoy breakfast and morning at the hotel, then we leave for Gunung Sitoli. On the way we stop in the village of Tumori to visit some traditional houses of northern Nias. The name Tumori comes from the name of a giant tree found by its founder in the past. You can see 10 traditional houses, aged between 50-120 years old. The village used to count 21 traditional houses, but many were demolished by their heirs due to family disputes and the inability of maintenance costs. The Nias traditional houses, commonly referred to as Omo Hada, are stilt houses.
We continue the drive for another 40mn to reach Guning Sitoli
Check-in at the hotel for the last night and rest.

After breakfast, we drop you at Nias Binaka Gunung Sitoli Airport for your flight to Medan and next destination.
