Delhi and Agra: the footsteps of India

Upon arrival at the airport of Delhi , you'll be warmly welcomed and transferred to The Haveli Dharampura, the only member of Secret Retreats in Delhi, a stunning 13 rooms and suites 200-year-old heritage boutique hotel located in the best area for experiencing all the best sights, sounds and flavours of this amazing city. After your breakfast at the hotel, A guide will take you on a combined tour of Old and New Delhi. The tour will include the visit to Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride to explore the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk bazaar. During our tour of New Delhi – the highlights are driving past the architecture of modern India – the impressive India Gate, the imposing President’s House, and Parliament House. We will also include the visit to Humayun’s Tomb and to make it more experiential – we will add a visit to the Gurudwara (a place where Sikhs worship). Afterward, return to the hotel and unwind for a bit.
In the late afternoon, a guide will come to pick you up to take you on a three-hour street food tour on the streets of India. You will get to explore markets and vendors on the streets of Chandni Chowk that have the most exquisite flavours for your tastebuds. You will get to eat alongside the people of India. Visit at least 10 food joints from the ever-famous “Paranthe Wali Galli”, to all-time favorite sweets Gulab Jamun and Jalebi to the delicious Natraj “Dahi Balla”. After eating to your heart’s content, head back to the hotel and relax.

In the early morning, have breakfast and get ready to explore Agra for the day with a driver. On the west end of the Yamuna River, Akbar’s magnificent fort dominates the centre of the city. The outer walls, just over 20 m high and faced with red sandstone, tower above the outer moat. The fort is crescent-shaped with a long nearly straight wall facing the river. In the afternoon, visit the tomb Itmad-ud-Daulah, which is believed that the glorious Taj Mahal was probably inspired from this Mughal Mausoleum. It was the very first Mughal structure to be totally built from marble and make extensive use of pietras. This beautiful tomb calls for a visit. Enjoy the sunset at the Taj Mahal. After a long day at Agra, head back to your hotel to relax after a long day.

After breakfast, check out before noon and transfer to the airport or station for departure to your next destination.
