Java’s Fire Mountains to Bali’s Hidden Shores

- A Secret Retreats journey -
8 days / 7 nights
from 2,250 USD /person

ITINERARY BOOK

This journey has been personally designed by Dwi, who is born in Bali and part of Secret Retreats from the start. Passionate about travels, he is sharing here his knowledge and interest for the Javanese and Balinese cultures and connections with nature, as Java was before a Hindu land as well.

All our itineraries have generally been constructed on the basis of the rooms that have the most charm or best view, and not necessarily the first prices, nor the most expensive suites.
We can of course adjust according to your request.

Highlights of the Journey:

  • Colonial Malang
  • Mount Bromo
  • Kawah Ijen, sulphur lake and Baluran National Park
  • Bali North or Wild West Coast

This journey through East Java will lead us from Surabaya to Banyuwangi, crossing many smoking volcanoes, national parks, traditional villages and unspoiled panoramas. East Java is often synonymous of raw volcanic power and unique landscapes created by these unpredictable mountains of fire, offering inspiring sunrises like on top of the Mount Bromo or Mount Ijen, with its crater lake and brave sulfur miners. The volcanic activity has created a largely fertile area and verdant agriculture all across the region. At the end of this journey, we will take a ferry to cross the Bali Strait, a stretch of water separating Java and Bali of just around 2 kilometers wide at its narrowest between Ketapang and Gilimanuk- and drop you in the south of Bali.
