Discover Chiang Mai
- A Secret Retreats journey -
This journey has been personally designed by Rooj Changtrakul is the owner and the esthete behind the decoration of Rachamankha – an aficionado of Art and Antiques and great connoisseur of Lanna History and Culture. He is sharing his hometown with us.
All our itineraries have generally been constructed on the basis of the rooms that have the most charm or best view, and not necessarily the first prices, nor the most expensive suites.
We can of course adjust according to your request.
Highlights of the Journey:
- An exploration of Chiang Mai Old Temples
- A unique dining experience with exclusively locally sourced produces.
Chiang Mai is the former capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom, which was independent until 1558, but has always kept since then its own lifestyle, a distinct culture, rich in arts with a refined architecture. The old town, where the hotel is located, still retain vestige of walls, moats and some beautiful temples and stupas. More than just a mere discovery of the city, we propose you here to live Chiang Mai, to become part of the city life and adopt its slower pace of life.

Your guide will escort you through these ancient and vibrant markets and will let you taste some of the typical Northern Thai delicacies before stopping to visit an old Chinese pagoda in what is Chiang Mai’s Chinatown along the way. On exiting the market your ‘samlor’ driver will be here to pick you up again and pedal you to your next stop at Wat Mahawan - a beautiful temple of Burmese and Lanna style.
At lunchtime, your guide will take you to a riverside restaurant to enjoy a delicious Thai lunch. After lunch we will return to the old city within the moat to visit two of the city’s most spectacular temples - Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra Sing. On completion of your visit to these two temples you will be returned to the Rachamankha Hotel where the day’s tour ends.
