This special Secret Retreats journey in Nepal has been crafted to provide a degustation of the country's physical and cultural riches in a short 10 day visit. Exploring the amazing heritage of the Kathmandu Valley, a cultural centre for arts and architecture for over 700 years, it has seen epochs come and go. The charm and historic interest of the three former city states of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur is truly timeless. From the urban focus your journey takes you on the gateway to the high Himalaya at Pokhara, an ancient meeting point of trans-himalayan and North Indian trading routes, Pokhara retains a laid-back charm and awesome Himalayan panoramas with three 8,000m peaks dominating the skyline of the valley, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu among the wealth of other peaks including the valley's iconic Fishtail, or Machhapuchhare, a sacred summit barred to climbing expeditions. A short helicopter flight and you will be landed in Mustang, the once forbidden kingdom. There, hidden deep in the undulations of the Himalayas and dominated by the snow-dusted peak of Nilgiri, you will start a unique adventure exploring some of the most unforgiving places on the planet. Returning to Kathmandu, for your last day, you will stay in Nepal’s iconic Dwarika’s Hotel, an oasis of luxury in the hectic city.

Your Journey Day by Day

Day 1 : Kathmandu (-/-/-)
Welcome at Kathmandu airport by our representative, outside the airport building with your name on a signboard and drive to Bhaktapur (15 minutes), one of the iconic towns of the Kathmandu Valley’s rich Newar civilisation. After check in – just relax and enjoy the beauty of the property.
Overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 2 : Kathmandu Valley (B/-/-)
Exploring the amazing heritage of the Kathmandu Valley, a cultural centre for arts and architecture for over 700 years, it has seen epochs come and go. The charm and historic interest of the three former city states of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur is truly timeless. The indigenous Newari peoples' cuisine is an exploration of food and lifestyle in itself.
In the morning: Sightseeing around the old town, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the 55-Window Palace with its golden gates and intricately carved windows, the Teleju Temple, the Nyatapola Temple, In the afternoon: Visit the sacred hindu Pashupatinath Temple and Buddhist stupa at Boudhanath.

Day 3 : Kathmandu -Pokhara (B/L/D)
In the morning: Transfer to the airport for the 25-minute flight to Pokhara by leady local airlines. Upon arrival Pokhara airport a driver from Tiger Mountain will drive you (45mn) to the lodge. From the urban focus your journey takes you on the gateway to the high Himalaya at Pokhara, an ancient meeting point of trans-himalayan and North Indian trading routes, Pokhara retains a laid-back charm and awesome himalayan panoramas with three 8,000m peaks dominating the skyline of the valley, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu among the wealth of other peaks including the valley's iconic Fishtail, or Machhapuchhare, a sacred summit barred to climbing expeditions.
Once settled down, enjoy the views and the fresh air above the valley.

Day 4 : Pokhara (B/L/D)
Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge sets the standards for regenerative tourism in this fragile environment and is one of only two hotels in Nepal independently audited (2017 & 2019) for sustainable best practice. Located on a ridge some 300m above the valley and on the edge of a typical Brahamin and Chettri village, the lodge is a haven of tranquillity from which to explore the local area with expert guides to interpret the flora, fauna and culture of the Middle Hills of Nepal, home to the country' s legendary soldiers, the Gurkhas. With comfortable cottage rooms, dramatic views, simple home-style cookery, the lodge is the perfect haven for visitors to Nepal.
Today, you can enjoy Tiger Mountain with a range of walks, massage, yoga or meditation.

Day 5 : Pokhara (B/L/D)
The full day walks organized with the team from the lodge can provide a genuine experience of Himalayan Treks. Those wishing to can also opt for shorter walks focussed on birds, butterflies, or village life with expert local guides to explain and share in your enjoyment. Or visit local museum or go for a Stupa walk, the program can be organized on site.
The table d’hôte cuisine at the lodge offers traditional Nepali dishes, Western recipes and many organic salads and vegetables from the garden.

Day 6 : Pokhara- Jomson, Mustang (B/-/-)
In the morning, a special charter helicopter flight directly to Moksha hotel by Simrik Air will be arranged from Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge. Moksha -which means freedom from the cycle of rebirth in Sanskrit - is where you will experience the trans-Himalayan region of Nepal. Moksha (altitude of 2950 meters) high above the Kali Gandaki river, is a blissful place for contemplation and to experience a powerful spiritualism in the way people live in the dry, desert mountains.

Day 7 : Jomson, Mustang (B/-/-)
Inspired by the local houses of Mustang, the architecture of Moksha blends into the property's surrounds. The hotel showcases epic views of Mount Nilgiri and encloses an apple orchard of over 2,000 trees and five greenhouses where the kitchen's ingredients are grown. During your stay, quench your thirst for adventure and explore the local culture and the breathtaking natural scenery through different activities such as Horse Riding, Cycling, Rock Climbing, Archery, Hiking, Trekking and Yoga.

Day 8 : Jomson, Mustang - Kathmandu (B/-/-)
Today, check out from Moksha and 2 short flights from Jomson Airport to Pokhara and onwards to Kathmandu airport where a driver will wait for you and drop at Dwarika’s (10 minutes). After check in – just relax and enjoy the beauty of the property.

This day is completely free for you to relax after the Himalayan adventures, or to keep exploring the city at your rhythm.
