En route, we stop at Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for new ex-captive orangutans, to see feeding time at 09.00 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to see these amazing primates up close on your Camp Leakey orangutan tour. Then proceed to Camp Leakey, established in 1971 by Professor Birute Galdikas, a student of Professor Louis Leakey. Walking through the rainforest, you often see orangutans, gibbons, butterflies, and birds. After lunch on the boat, you will have the opportunity to take a small trek before seeing feeding time at 14.00 pm for older rehabilitation orangutans.
After dinner on board, you might also take a night safari to see tarsiers, glowing mushrooms, fireflies, and perhaps owls. Overnight on the boat. These best orangutan tours offer an immersive experience, allowing you to connect with nature deeply.

All meals at leisure.

Day 6 : Magelang - Borobudur - Yogyakarta (B/- /-)
Leave early to reach Borobudur and experience the sunrise atop one of the temples. Follow your guide and learn about this impressive holy monument in the early hours of the morning, before the arrival of the daily stream of visitors. Stroll through Borobudur's six terraces and glance at its magnificent bas-reliefs and statues, which were buried under layers of volcanic ash for over ten centuries. After the visit, rest at Borobudur's base where you can enjoy a traditional local breakfast.
Continue the day with 2 options:
- Visit Yogyakarta City: the center of Javanese culture and crafts. Visit the Hamengkubuwono kraton (which today remains the palace of the Sultan of Yogyakarta and his family), the Taman Sari baths (an eighteenth century complex of pools and waterways built in Portuguese style for the Sultan and his harem), and stroll through the center of Yogyakarta's silver industry in the deco neighborhood of Kota Gede.
- Visit Prambanan Temple: the largest Hindu temple complex in Java and one of the most outstanding examples of Hindu art in the world.
Back to the hotel for the rest of the day... and enjoy your evening.
HOTEL: Mesastila
Day 7 : Magelang (B/-/-)
After breakfast and a glass of traditional “Jamu” (herbal medicine from Java), choose to hike, bike or simply by car, to reach Candil Umbul (Royal Bath). Follow the tracks of the old plantation trains through rice fields and sleepy villages, crossing rivers and abandoned bridges along the way until you reach – hidden away in a quiet and beautiful valley – these Majapahit baths, constructed in the tenth century. The Royal Baths, continuously replenished by spring water, is the perfect place for a dip, so be sure to bring along your sarong or bathing suit.
2 options to continue the excursions:
- Sekar Langit and Seloprojo Waterfall: walk through bamboo groves to reach the waterfalls of Sekar Langit or Seloprojo where you can swim in a natural pool of cold mountain waters.
-Horse cart tour: discover the spectacular scenery around the Grabag Village and experience the distinctive way of life of the villagers by visiting the traditional market and home industries with the horse cart.
Back to the hotel enjoy your afternoon tea and other activities offered at the property.

Visit the Mangkunegaran Palace and its museum of traditional masks, costumes, jewels, etc. We stopped at Triwindhu Flea Market, Radya Pustaka Museum of Art and Crafts (one of the oldest museums in Indonesia), and the local market.
Continuing with the visit of the temples of Cetoh and Sukuh, dating from the 13th and 14th centuries and located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Back to Solo at the end of the day.
HOTEL: Warisan Heritage Boutique Hotel
Day 9 : Solo - Blitar (B/-/-)
After check-out, transfer to Solo train station for a 4-hr train journey to Blitar. Upon arrival in Blitar, where you will visit the Bung Karno Museum - one of the best-preserved in Indonesia, which offers genuine insights into Sukarno’s life and his contributions to the development of the Indonesian nation and its global position.
Check in at Tugu Blitar, a charming heritage hotel that blends colonial-era elegance with authentic Javanese art and culture, located near the historical sites of East Java. Relax for the evening.
HOTEL: Tugu Blitar
Day 10 : Blitar- Kawisari - Malang (B/L/-)
Check out around 7am to reach the plantation of Kawisari (near Wlingi, on the slopes on Mount Kelud) with the fresh morning air. Breakfast will be served upon arrival. A jeep will wait for you to explore the 900ha of the plantation: you will see the difference between Robusta and Arabica, the process to handpick the coffee beans, the process to wash, dry the beans and select the grades. You may also see some wild civets and the very expensive “kopi luwak”. But to balance activities for the hundreds of people working on the plantation, as well as balance the soil, there are other exploitation on the plantation, from rubber trees to fruit trees. The entire plantation is organic.
Lunch will be served at the lodge, original house built by the Dutch founder of the plantation. Then time to continue to Malang, to reach Hotel Tugu around 4-5pm... and rest.
HOTEL: Tugu Malang
Day 11 : Malang (B/L/-)
In the morning, explore the city of Malang. Known for its welcoming and authentic atmosphere, Malang offers a chance to experience traditional Indonesian life. Return to hotel to relax

Day 12 : Malang - Bromo (B/-/-)
In the morning, we will take a city tour and discover the small Hindu temples of Jago and Kidal. Then we drive to the region of Mount Bromo. This leg of the journey is part of a popular Mount Bromo Tour from Yogyakarta, offering scenic views and cultural insights along the way. We should reach in the afternoon and check in at the small charming hotel Jiwa Java. Rest early, as we will wake up very early.
HOTEL: Jiwa Jiwa
Day 13 : Bromo – Surabaya Airport (B/-/-)
Before the sun rises, we take a jeep to Mount Pananjakan to admire the sunrise over Mount Bromo and the entire East Java volcano chain. This experience is a signature highlight of this tour in Java. We then cross the sea of sand with the jeep and climb the steps to the crater of the volcano. We came back to the hotel for a solid breakfast.
