Bassac CruisesViet+Nam/Bassac+Cruises

These overnight cruises take you to the greener areas of the Mekong Delta and allow the opportunity to discover life along the river. Each of the three vessels (6 to 12 cabins) were built out of wood according to local maritime traditions and adapted for discovery cruises to ensure guests can witness nature, villages, floating markets, and pagodas. The cruises run from Cai Be to Can Tho and vice versa.

Like the rest of the boats, these cosy 9sqm cabins are made entirely out of wood, and feature air-conditioning, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and are scented by Laurent Séverac, a perfumer based in Hanoi. Every cabin has a view of the river, and all the main deck cabins have direct outdoor access.

Your Host & The Team

“How better to discover and experience the Mekong Delta than onboard an elegant wooden boat, which meanders through smaller rivers rather than up or downstream a large one? We built the three Bassac boats according to tradition in Phung Hiep, the heart of the Mekong Delta, and a hub of river life for over two centuries. Bassac I was built from the hull of an existing rice barge. On board each vessel, we offer the chance to experience the heart of the Mekong Delta, a simple and bountiful life of fishing and agriculture.”

“Set sail on one of three wooden boats that cruise between Can Tho and Cai to glimpse at local villages and floating markets, and experience nature along the Mekong Delta.”

Kim, the discoverer.
