Tsingpu Yangzhou RetreatChina/Tsingpu+Yangzhou+Retreat

Yangzhou is a distinctive location in South China and is situated along China's magnificent Grand Canal. Yangzhou has a history dating back more than 2,500 years and is significant as a commercial and cultural crossroads between the North and the South. For millennia, artists, poets, travelers, and wealthy merchants have been drawn to this enchanted city to enjoy its opulent standard of living. The rapid development of China has strangely not altered Yangzhou's way of life over time.

The Tsingpu Yangzhou Retreat, which is close to Slender West Lake, is more than just a place to rest; it also serves as a cultural showcase for the prosperity of prehistoric Yangzhou. The hideaway, created by architects Neri & Hu, is a little walled city that was constructed with more than 1.2 million original black bricks collected over the course of two years. The compound itself is a unique fusion of architectural innovation and traditional culture because the public and private spaces are connected by conventional passageways and the irregular windows disrupt the visual boundaries.

We promise that whether you choose to stay in the tranquil hotel grounds or explore the nearby art galleries, workshops, and tea houses, you will experience an authentic Chinese culture unlike any other. You can take part in our interactive activities, learn to create beautiful crafts on your own, observe local chefs produce delectable dishes, dress in classic opera attire, and listen to Chinese zither music to experience the depths buried in the music's antiquity.

Your Host and The Team

“My goal, my view, is that alongside ordinary life, people should seek, find and enjoy opportunities to explore and find themselves, and to find inner peace. My goal at the Tsingpu Yangzhou Retreat was to create a place, a site, for people to feel the beauty of poetry, to find their inner heart, and explore their artistic spirit. Xiangchou is a Chinese concept that refers to nostalgia for rural living and in this age of rapid technological development, it's becoming quite a movement, particularly in hospitality. These concepts come from a renowned poet, Xin Qiji. He composed a very famous poem, which goes “When I see the mountain, I can feel the beauty and the peace of the mountain. Meanwhile the mountain can feel my heart.”
