Samanea Beach Resort & Spa was built with deep respect for its natural environment. In an effort to minimise its carbon footprint, the resort draws water directly from an underground mountain stream, using a gravity-fed circulation system without pumps. All wastewater passes through a system of five settling ponds, each divided into three compartments, before being safely filtered back into the ground to protect both the water table and the sea. Rainwater is also collected and reused to nurture the mangrove forest.
In addition to water conservation, Samanea reduces its electricity consumption through the use of solar panels and continues weekly clean-ups to protect the mangroves and coastline. The resort actively supports the local community by employing and training local staff, reducing plastic waste, and preserving traditional craftsmanship. Every aspect reflects Samanea’s philosophy of mindful hospitality, caring for both people and the planet.
