“Ubud is a very busy place, but once you get through the unassuming entrance on the road, you’re in what feels like a very different (and much better) world. We were there for 2 nights in August (sorry for the delay in reviewing!) before going to Gili Meno. Allow for 2 hours travelling time from the airport and Padang Bai; traffic is bad here.
The views are just lovely, as are the staff and Manageress, and the food is genuinely outstanding – the chefs are some of the best we have ever encountered, and we’ve travelled a fair amount. If you wish to have dinner in the hotel, make sure you book a table at breakfast (also very yummy) as it is often booked by people staying elsewhere, such is the popularity. It’s not a big place at all though, so don’t worry about it being lively.
Then there’s the Mojitos – oh my god!!! Quite probably the best in the world!
The rooms are exceptionally well proportioned and beautifully decorated; the bathroom is VERY luxurious (in an authentic way) too. The beds are supremely comfy, and the air con is good.
The hotel operates a shuttle service to Ubud Central, although it is just about walkable within 40 minutes or so; we did this when traffic was at a standstill due to an Independence Day parade.
Bugs and critters were not a problem during our stay. Suitable for families with well-behaved children.”
