BOOK

If you have ever dreamt of sailing the high seas under tropical skies and surrounded by stunning islands and marine scenery, those dreams probably included a sailing ship that looks exactly like the Celestia phinisi. A 45-meter custom-built vessel, the Celestia has room for 14 guests in seven well-appointed staterooms. Each cabin has been carefully fitted out, attention to detail is everything, with a combination of traditional Balinese craftsmanship and comfortable modern amenities. Boatbuilders from Bulukumba utilized traditional shipwright skills recognized by UNESCO to refit the Celestia phinisi yacht, and the renowned South African design studio, Deirdre Renniers, was brought in to imagine and create the boat’s delightful interiors and living spaces. Guests booking a private charter on a Celestia cruise can expect a bespoke experience exploring corners of the crystal-clear waters of the Indonesian archipelago not normally accessible to other travelers. Tailor-made itineraries include destinations within the legendary Coral Triangle such as the Spice Islands (now the Maluku Islands), Komodo National Park, and Raja Ampat.

The Celestia phinisi is also available for multi-day liveaboard scuba diving and is equipped with all the necessary diving equipment and supported by a professional and very experienced dive team who are used to guiding dives for guests of all abilities. A welcoming 17-strong crew under the leadership of cruise director Jennifer Tan is always on hand to cater to guests’ every need and provide a genuinely immersive sailing experience. Whether diving the azure waters and colorful coral reefs, exploring the countless islands, trekking to hidden caves and waterfalls, getting up close and personal with Komodo dragons, or simply relaxing on deck with a good book as the gentle waves lap the hull, every day on a Celestia cruise is filled with fascination, relaxation and wonder. The Celestia yacht’s talented Indonesian chef, the award-winning Wayan Kresna Yasa, crafts menus and dishes that are a fusion of fresh local specialties and tasty international favorites. The spacious wooden deck provides panoramic views of the surrounding seas during the day and is the perfect setting for enjoying a fruity cocktail or glass of wine as the sun dips below the horizon and the stars of the Milky Way light your night – Indonesia is considered the best place in Asia to enjoy breathtaking views of our galaxy, the Milky Way.

Your Host and The Team

“Celestia was born from the desire to come together — there is an element of home, or rather, a space where you can be immersed in nature with people who feel like home. There's a sense of majesty when sailing through the Indonesian archipelago and encountering the numerous isolated islands that speckle the waters aboard a vessel rich with Indonesian tradition and heritage. The interior design is rooted in quiet sophistication, allowing nature and the immaculate surroundings to shine while still drawing upon the romance of subtle glamour and detailing.”

“Working with renowned yacht-interior designer Deirdre Renniers, we have drawn from a wealth of Indonesian talent, commissioning Balinese artisans and sourcing furniture from emerging Indonesian designers that we have admired and followed for a while. Celestia aims to give guests a true cultural immersion, including an exceptional F&B program courtesy of award-winning Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa (trained at Michelin kitchens in New York and Chicago), whose culinary creations fuse classical Western techniques with Southeast Asian flavors. We are thrilled to see Celestia on the water, welcoming guests as they take in the kaleidoscope of marine life amidst crystalline waters and pristine islands, while gazing at the wonders of the celestial skies in the evenings in the company of family, friends and loved ones.”

The Celestia Yacht – A Commitment to Balinese Craftsmanship

The twin-mast, seven-sail Celestia Yacht is the lockdown brainchild of sister and brother team Jasmine Chong and Jason Tabalujan. The duo wanted to create an ocean-going retreat for friends and family that could also be used for private charters. On the upper deck of this classic Indonesian schooner is a brace of 30 sqm Owner Staterooms and on the main deck is the Master Stateroom, each of which comes with a king-sized bed, private terrace, panoramic ocean views, a writing desk, and a comfortable exterior day bed. The lower deck of the Celestia yacht boasts four deluxe staterooms each with portholes. Two of these staterooms have twin beds and two feature queen-size beds. New York City fashion designer Chong is responsible for overseeing the interior design of the Celestia phinisi’s cabins which are all elegantly decked out in tasteful teak and rattan-paneled furniture, brass fittings, cushions, bed-runners, and comfy patterned bathrobes. The ensuite bathrooms feature Villeroy & Boch finishings and exquisite Carrara marble counters. Commitment to Balinese craftsmanship and sustainability is evidenced in the hand-glazed, locally made tiles.
As you explore the Celestia phinisi during your cruise, you will discover cozy nooks in which to hide away with a good book, or the bowsprit lounge where guests are invited to enjoy a classic cocktail while gazing out over the ocean and seemingly countless island peaks of Indonesia’s incredible archipelago. Escape the heat of midday by retreating to the air-conditioned saloon where a selection of books, board games, and movies are available. There is also a sitting room with a wide-screen television in which to snuggle down with a good film. Although being on a boat would suggest spending as much time under the water as above, Chong, a non-diver herself, wants every guest on a Celestia cruise to feel included explaining that there is always a member of the crew available to whisk guests away for an island picnic, a beach game, and a paddle when family or friends are on a dive.

“Classic Indonesian tradition meets elegant modern comfort aboard the Celestia Yacht. The brainchild of a brother and sister, the Celestia phinisi was created to provide guests with an unforgettable Indonesian seafaring experience. With seven luxury cabins over three decks, the wooden schooner comfortably accommodates 14 and is perfect for families, groups of friends, or those seeking a romantic getaway beneath the stars. Explore the ancient Indonesian Spice Routes with a professional and friendly onboard team looking after your every need. Enjoy style and comfort cruising the still relatively untouched waters and islands of the incredible Indonesian Archipelago.”
Kim, the discoverer.

Explore the Indonesian Archipelago in Traditional Style on the Celestia Phinisi Yacht
A voyage on the Celestia phinisi yacht means unrivalled access to some of the most biodiverse habitats on the planet, both above and below the waves. The Komodo National Park with its legendary dragons, colorful birdlife, and pink sandy beaches is a relatively untouched treasure best visited from the deck of the Celestia phinisi. Experienced dive professionals are on hand to help with a scuba adventure whether it is a guest’s first time, or they are seasoned divers. Those preferring to stay closer to the surface are invited to grab some fins, a mask, and a snorkel and hover above the colorful coral. The calm clear waters are perfect for paddling around the limestone peaks, mangrove swamps, and island beaches sitting in a kayak or standing on a paddleboard. A Celestia cruise offers passengers the rare opportunity to meet and learn about the lifestyles of some of Indonesia’s indigenous tribes including the Asmat tribe, Dyak tribe, and the Ikat Weavers of the Lesser Sunda Islands.

The Celestia crew’s local knowledge will help guests discover some of the secrets of the historic Spice Trade, as well as providing access to the almost mythical landscapes of volcanic islands with their hidden caves, jagged cliffs, secret coves, and glassine waterfalls. Returning to the deck of the Celestia phinisi yacht, guests are invited to relax after a day of adventure with a traditional Balinese-style massage followed by a cocktail and a mouthwatering dining experience which is a celebration of rich regional flavors given a contemporary touch by the Celestia’s chef and his talented team. The perfect end to an evening must be reclining on deck for some breathtaking stargazing in some of the planet’s least light-polluted skies. After all, Celestia means ‘Heavenly’, and that is the perfect moniker for this elegant, unforgettable, custom-created, Indonesian-designed sailing yacht.
