Yangzhou is situated in the central region of Jiangsu where the Yangtze River and the Beijing - Hangzhou Grand Canal meet, between Yancheng, Nanjing and Anhui. Historically, Yangzhou was one of the wealthiest cities in China, known at various periods for its great merchant families, poets, artists, and scholars. Called " The Rising Prefecture", the name refers to its former position as the capital of the ancient Yangzhou prefecture in imperial China. Fine workmanship and fresh ingredients are the two characteristics of Yangzhou cuisine. The small and quiet city has a long history and was named as City of Gastronomy by UNESCO in 2019. Famous dishes include Braised Meat Balls in Brown Sauce, Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish, Yangzhou Fried Rice and Wensi Tofu. A 4 day and 3 night all-inclusive escape beside the picturesque Slender West Lake. Take a boat ride on the lake, from the pier reserved to hotel guest. Listen to the zither players in the courtyard, learn how to perform Yangzhou opera or have a stroll in a secret garden where stones, rocks and bamboos create harmony. This escape offers a deep discovery of traditional Chinese Culture and the local cuisine.
