Question 1

Where is the best place for a Sri Lanka safari?

Accepted Answer

Yala National Park is generally considered the best place for a Sri Lanka safari, home to the highest concentration of leopards in the world alongside elephants and sloth bears. Wilpattu National Park offers a quieter alternative with dense forest and ancient ruins. Udawalawe is a strong choice for guaranteed elephant sightings and is often paired with Yala on longer itineraries.

Question 2

When is the best time for an India tiger safari?

Accepted Answer

The dry season from March to June offers the best odds for an India tiger safari, as tigers move toward remaining water sources and are easier to spot in thinner vegetation. Many parks, including Kanha and Bandhavgarh, close for part of the monsoon season from July to September. October through February remains a good option with cooler temperatures, though sightings can be slightly less predictable.

Question 3

Is it easy to see orangutans on a Borneo wildlife tour?

Accepted Answer

Sightings are likely but not guaranteed, since orangutans move freely through the rainforest canopy in Sabah's Danum Valley and the Kinabatangan Wetlands. Rehabilitation centers near Tanjung Puting in Indonesian Borneo offer more reliable viewing of semi-wild orangutans. A guided Borneo orangutan tour with an experienced local tracker significantly improves your chances in the wild forest areas.

Question 4

How does a Sri Lanka safari differ from an India or Nepal wildlife tour?

Accepted Answer

A Sri Lanka safari is typically shorter and more compact, with parks like Yala reachable within a day of arriving on the island. India tiger safaris and Nepal's Chitwan and Bardia parks generally require more travel time between reserves and lean toward multi-day itineraries. All three destinations use open jeep game drives, though Nepal also offers canoe and walking safaris within its parks.

Question 5

What wildlife can I realistically expect to see on an Asia wildlife tour?

Accepted Answer

Expect strong sightings of elephants, deer and birdlife across most Asian parks, with predator sightings like leopards and tigers being possible but never guaranteed on any single safari. Sri Lanka's Yala offers some of the best leopard odds anywhere in the world, while India's tiger reserves and Nepal's Chitwan give good chances at tigers and rhinoceros. Our concierge team sets realistic expectations and recommends the parks and timing that best match what you most want to see.
