Discovering Rural Thailand: Where to Stay in Isan

From stories in DestinAsian to even Vogue, Thailand’s little known northeastern Isan region is starting to step into the spotlight with several recent features.

The rural area borders Laos and seems worlds away from the country’s bustling capital of Bangkok or even charming Chiang Mai. It even has its own dialect and creative cuisine – some dishes of which have become popular around the country with Thais and travellers alike.

Love the spicy zing of green papaya salad? You can thank Isan for that.

Though the remote region is relatively untouched by travellers, it still offers an array of activities, accommodation and more for intrepid travellers to experience a true taste of Thailand.
