There is something magical about a mountain environment. Phu Chaisai is a reminder that mindful living with nature is possible, even in this modern age. Guests live simply, in comfort, and close to nature. The Resort 33 rooms’ design is harmonious with its surroundings. The fresh mountain air is cleansing, and reduces the need for air conditioning. The unique accommodation and overall concept of “less is more” create a genuine opportunity for guests to immerse themselves into a natural rhythm and environment. Luxury was intended for the spirit and comes from nature: a sunrise across the horizon, the unspoiled mountain fresh air, the sound of the forest...
These 35sqm bamboo cottages blend harmoniously with their surroundings and feature a private balcony with mountain views. Bamboo is rigorous and flexible, so it can be shaped into any form. Hotel Facilities & Highlights
Restaurant: Organic, seasonal and local, the restaurant, only uses fresh ingredients from its organic farm and local suppliers. The chef presents a taste of Thai and Northern-Thai cuisine, and a selection of Western dishes. Cooking classes are also available.
Spa: The Bamboo Spa offers affordable treatments based on ancient knowledge passed down from generation to generation, using signature natural aromatic oils to smooth and caress the senses. The healing powers of volcanic lava stones placed strategically on key energy points of the body allow a deeper pressure massage for a deeper relaxation.
The Farm: The resort has gone beyond the green concept to a green lifestyle. Water is supplied from its own reservoirs. The tea plantation, organic farms, and fruit orchards yield produce for the kitchen and guests. The resort also supports local growers and suppliers to provide meat, and seasonal vegetables and fruit.
Treks: Phu Chaisai Estate contains roughly 2,000 acres of primary growth forest and jungle, three water reservoirs, and a fresh spring fed waterfall. The highest point of the property, above the Organic Farm reaches 600+metres above sea level. Self-guided trekking is possible through the Organic Farm, Oolong Tea Plantation, and bamboo groves. Staff-guided trekking is also available through the dense jungle, along the waterfall and river systems, caves, and the nearby Golden Horse Temple.

“Phu Chaisai, literally translated means ‘Mountain of Clear Heart’. It is one of the first boutique resorts in Thailand, and the first to incorporate lifestyle and wellness into the holiday experience. It has its own unique, rustic style, and exemplifies the best of Northern Thai hospitality.”
Welcome to Chiang Rai Golden Triangle
Jaw-dropping temples, a relatively cool climate, unbridled nature, and a unique confluence of both rivers and cultures makes Chiang Rai a must-see destination while travelling in Thailand... especially when experiencing the region with Secret Retreats collection of Chiang Rai accommodation including some of the best hotels in Chiang Rai.
The mountainous northern Thai city of Chiang Rai and the surrounding region, which is infamously dubbed the Golden Triangle, promises sights and experiences that will broaden your understanding of what Thailand and Southeast Asia have to offer and an eco-resort or boutique hotel Chiang Rai style is not to be missed. Straddling borders and cultural identities, Chiang Rai is often overlooked in favour of its charming, more well-known sister, Chiang Mai. The city, however, was actually the very first capital of the Lanna Kingdom and now offers unique sites, attractions, restaurants and Chiang Rai luxury hotels to offer to cultured travellers and adventure seekers alike.
Visitors are often drawn to this gem by the allures of the ornate White Temple of Wat Rong Khun, but its ever-increasing cultural attractions demand more than just a day trip. Whether you are heading off into the hills for adventure or winding down after trekking, Chiang Rai’s luxury hotels, eco-resorts and river cruises also offer a welcome chance to rest and indulge.
“Built on a hill overlooking several valleys and hectares of organic plantations, this mountain resort has 33 rooms alongside elephants, buffaloes and horses.”
