Locavore: "Stunning food"
Fantastic experience. The degustation was superb, pairing with the cocktails even better. I decided to have some wine with the degustation. Must book in advanced as they are very popular.
tugu bali: "Superb Dining Course"
"We visited the Tugu by chance when in search for a different dining experience. Their prefixed course menu is nothing but impressive. It is certain worth the splurge. For me the most valuable was their willingness to accommodate on vegetarian options. It is recommended to book at least a day in advance. If you have a large group, they have rooms available with a rather interesting decor theme of red lights, antique and wooden carvings (picture an imperial room in Shanghai). Service is pleasant and friendly. "
Satri House: "Great Service lovely Hotel"
I booked this hotel for my daughter who was backpacking around Asia because I needed an important document signed and the Hotel said they could arrange everything from downloading the document, printing it and after signing DHL it back to the UK. Well not only did they do this but my daughter had a fantastic stay at the hotel, she loved the bedrooms (very comfy mattress apparently) and loved the service. What more can you ask for. Thank you Phommaly TEVAMITH (Mr), great service!
Reverie Siam: "Excellent choice for a couple"
"This place is gorgeous
A hodgepodge of vintage furniture adorns the restaurant (which acts as the focal point of the resort)
The menu is incredible - and very reasonably priced
We had a second-floor mountain view room (there's only two levels)
The room was enormous, so was the bathroom (complete with bathtub), and our private terrace looked out across fields toward the mountain with white Buddha.
There's two cute swimming pools nestled amongst foliage
Super friendly and attentive staff
Free tuk tuk into town about 5 mins away"
Mathis Retreat: "Small, classy, boutique hotel with very lovely staff"
"My husband and 20 month year old have just returned from a lovely relaxing stay at Mathis retreat. We chose to be picked up and dropped back at the airport by the Mathis team as this meant our little one could travel in a baby seat (we didn't lug one all the way to Bali).
The staff were very friendly and the hotel was great - I don't think the pictures of the bungalows on this site do justice to the decor of the rooms - they were very large and tastefully decorated. The bath was so large that all three of us could fit.
Karine helped coordinate a few activities from the hotel- one day we went on a hike through the jungle, lunch with locals and a stop at a more friendly monkey park (Sangeh). Another time we went to Lake Bratten and looked at the wonderful rice terraces at Jatiluwih and tasted the local coffee overlooking other lakes. Karine also organised, on our behalf, a cycling tour of the local rice paddies and villages and ensured their was a baby sized helmet provided. The huge advantage of organising all of our activities through the hotel meant that we could use the hotel's baby seat.
We ate at the restaurant (Terracotta) numerous times - breakfast is amazing - overlooking the rice paddies. Dinner was also beautiful - lights in the rice paddies and lanterns floating on the pool with delicious food. So good, we ended up doing a cooking course at the hotel for lunch one day.
The staff were wonderful, very helpful with our little one and friendly. Nothing seemed to be a problem. The pool has a large shallow section that is suitable for little ones and the hotel's duck's were also very popular with our child and others' children.
Another tip: There is a great path through the rice paddies and small village streets from the hotel into Ubud - certainly worth doing the walk early one morning so you can catch the Udud local food markets. Room Tip: The bungalows by the pool were great as the baby monitor was in range. We were in the pool relaxing..."
Amazing Food and Great Views - The food was incredible, staff very friendly and views were great. All in all a great experience and would certainly recommend.
My husband and I got certified in scuba to come here, and it was worth everything. Facilities were wonderful considering mission of resort. If I had vacation time and money, I would bring my three kids there tomorrow. House reef was such a lovely snorkel opportunity. Food was delicious, as long as one can let go of Western thoughts. I personally found nudibranchs, scorpion fish, and a frog fish (fist bump!) and saw mandarin fish on dusk dive. For the bird addicts, we saw wild sulfur crested cockatoos on the resort island. I will budget to get here again asap with my kids. Dive master took great care of us... (Hugs to Kiikii, despite my great faith that he was Benny). Wait staff was always ready with an eager selamat pagi for early breakfast. Getting here is difficult, but As noted above, I would come back in a heartbeat. Shout out to Mark, Sue and Calvin. I cried when I left...
"This place is extraordinary. We stayed for 4 nights. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and an almost 5 yr and an almost 2 yr old. We stayed in the 1 room villa with a baby cod. The almost 5 yr old slept in the big bed with us. Not ideal but it was ok. Slow did offer a separate additional bed for the 5 yr old but it would have taken up quite some space, leaving almost none left.
We would go back anytime and even stay as we did of that is the only option. Indoor outdoor melts together when sliding up the 3 big glass doors facing the pool. The garden is big and leaves you with the impression that it could have been smaller without reducing your feeling of it being spacious. The bath room is outdoors. Nicely build and designed as the rest."
