Villa Mathis: "Everything about this place is just perfect"
Love to travel but most love staying in unique places. Mathis so far is the most incredible place I have ever stayed in. Each villa is unique and represents different parts of Indonesia. Also each villa has its own pool, place to chill, read, meditate or just play around. The service is amazing. The location is great close everywhere which makes is perfect place to stay in.
The Hue House: "Good choice, reasonable price"
"We didn't know what to expect - having been recommended by a friend who recently moved to HCM City to work as a teacher but we were very pleasantly surprised!
The menu was in both languages and also had photos also! The employees had been extremely patient and useful and also showed us how you can come several of the meals into the Vietnamese like rolls! The portions were huge and also the food was tastey.
We experimented with 3 various dishes and also had 2 drinks as well as the cost was extremely reasonable. if you're searching for a geniun Hue cuisine with good price and nice view, this's the very best option."
Cuca: "Deserves 2 Michelin stars – Outstanding"
"We had a fantastic culinary experience at Cuca.
The flavours, textures, aromas and presentation were an impressive mix.
The staff were very atentative and their product knowledge was amazing.
We sat at the bar watching the Chefs work which brought back memories for me.
We liked how different people brought us our dishes - Chefs and our waitress, who explained what we were about to enjoy.
As recommended we choose 6 tapas style dishes which was just enough for both of us to feel full and not left hungry.
The choice is well balanced and it was difficult to choose which 6 dishes to enjoy, saying that we couldn't resist trying 2 of their desserts too!! We don't normally take dessert but on this occasion we really enjoyed the Bali breakfast and their ice cream dish with 98% coco mass organic chocolate ganash just made for them.
Their brigade is headed up by an energetic Canadian Chef called Kevin Cherkas who I would pair with Heston Blumenthal using modern techniques to improve your culinary experience.
So we liked it so much we are going to return to enjoy a different 6 dishes and another culinary journey at Cuca. "
"This is a very special place...I felt a bit like Leo DiCaprio discovering his Beach when I arrived here! (In fact its a bay and a beach creating a bit more variety than normal with the shallow bay ideal for any of the younger guests....)
Its a 1.5 hour long tail boat trip from Khuraburi to get here, so there is no popping back to the mainland for a spot of shopping during the stay. Still, not sure why anyone would want to...the resort is a great place to unwind - read some books, swim, kayak and just generally chill out.
I was in Baan Sea Blue 1 and it was great to be so close to the sea, listening to the waves as I went to sleep and woke up. Loved the design of the house and that they are all individual and well spaced out.
The service was excellent - Massi and Teresa were very friendly and professional. The food was very good which is fortunate as there is not exactly a street full of restaurants outside the hotel! Took the half board option.
We did the tour to the Surin islands. With the benefit of hindsight I would not advise this as I do not think this was very well done by the operator, Greenview. The boat did not arrive at the resort to collect us until just before 10am and upon arrival at surin took us to the Mokken village which confused most of us on the boat as we thought we were there for snorkelling. It did not help that the guide's english was not great. After the calm of Golden Buddha the buffet lunch with all the other tour groups on Surin seemed like a tourist hell zone. As for the snorkelling, a lot of the corals were bleached. Not enough fins were available for the snorkellers. We left Surin about 3.30pm for the hour trip back. All in all a bit disappointing for THB 3,900 per person. If I had my time again I would have gone to stay on Surin for a night or two to appreciate the islands in a more relaxed way and not taken the day trip.
Back at the resort one highlight was taking a kayak out to go up the mangrove river. If you get the kayak 30 mins before high tide you can float with the tide into the river and then float back out to sea as the tide turns. We went as far as we could up the river. On another day we took a kayak to investigate the islands in the bay.
I should mention that the sunsets were fantastic!"
"lieu magnifique , personnel très courtois et disponible, jardins bien entretenus , fin de sérénité avec un coucher de soleil sublime,à voir les jardins flottants et bien sûr le lac .
je recommande fortement"
I was really looking forward to our stay at 4 Rivers Floating Lodge, and I wasn't disappointed. The staff were so welcoming, the tents immaculate and the food superb. We were lucky in that it was very quiet when we visited, but it was also rather wet! However, the service more than made up for the weather and, as I have already said, the food was excellent.
Tugu Bali: "Romantic 10 year anniversary celebration"
"This was the perfect place to have a night away from our 5 year old to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! We felt like we were a million miles away in the serene setting provided by the hotel. This is a must for any trip to Bali! The cultural night on Thursday adds such a special touch to our evening! "
The Cabochon is quiet and peaceful reminiscent of a colonial era with all the trimmings of a boutique residence. The location offers great access to the city's delights including retail and food outlets. The rooms are light, airy and spacious with crisp white bedding. The pool area is sedate and relaxing. The restaurant serves a wonderful array of Thai delights from all regions of this wonderful land. The bar area is busy with eclectic wonders but also soothing and tasteful. The staff are smart, attentive and most helpful. I would recommend this to any discerning traveller. I most certainly will be returning.
"Everything about our evening at David's Kitchen was a real pleasure. From the ease of booking online, the way the staff look after you, the beautiful restaurant, David himself, and the food. I can't think of any negatives at all.
To have a restaurant of this quality in Chiang Mai is a real blessing and a treat that everyone living here should allow themselves at least once."
