I stayed three nights here with my husband and our two teenage sons. Nestled in a beautiful valley with views to the across lush green rice paddies and mountains covered with clove trees and palms, Sanak provides a chance to experience the best of rural Bali. It’s a long and windy drive over the mountains from the south but well worth it. With just 11 villas, this feels like a boutique retreat offering a fairly unique experience. Most guests are there for the peace and beauty of the place and many guests take the opportunity to do guided walks, treks or canoeing – we did a waterfall walk and a canoeing trip and both were reasonably priced and well worth while, with excellent local guides. Most of the staff are from the local villages and you get the sense that they take great pride in the resort. The villas are lovely with a truly Balinese flavour and the cool evening breeze makes sleeping comfortable without air con – once you adjust to the sounds of dogs and roosters! The restaurant offers a limited menu but the food is of a very good standard and there is enough variety for a stay of a few days. Our whole family loved Sanak’s simple elegance and we take away lovely memories of a special part of Bali. Thank you.
