Locavore: "Not just for the sophisticated palate."
At first blush I didn’t think I would enjoy this refined restaurant experience. But what an amazing evening it turned out to be. We chose the seven course meal without the wine pairing but we only made it through the first five before we were too full to continue. The waitress talked us into the five or six part dessert which was unbelievable. Please refer to their website for a complete description of the courses I would never do it justice. It is a must stop if you visit ubud Bali. thank you so much to the chef for all his hard work and to the waitresses for the service beyond compare.
Sanak Retreat: "Tranquil oasis amidst the rice paddies"
My wife and I and two adult children had a great stay in one of the lovely bungalows overlooking the rice paddies. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was good. Both days we toured the area, one day by van and the second day by ATV’s. This is a very relaxing, serene and pleasant spot.
Heritage Suites: "Beautiful Oasis in this Amazing Place"
The wonderful feeling of this hotel began at the airport when you are collected in a vintage Mercedes - they give you a cool wet towel and a long cool drink. The hotel is slightly off the beaten track but it is such a beautiful place to return to at the end of a day of sightseeing and the peace and tranquility are priceless. We would not stay anywhere else. The staff were so accommodating (even when the roads outside flooded and they had to sandbag the entrance). The General Manager was always around and smiling and was so interested in what the visitors had to say. We had a bungalow which is larger than you will get anywhere else and had all the conveniences you could want or need. The pool and the food just completed the entire wonderful package. I didn't want to leave
A fabulous hotel with lovely staff. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and the room we had was great with a fantastic balcony overlooking the huge pool. The room itself was a good size with a lovely bathroom. The setting on the river is beautiful and the food in the restaurant was some of the best we had in Vietnam, especially the breakfast with amazing French toast! It's a great restaurant to sit and watch the river traffic go by and you can almost imagine you are in the middle of the countryside. The hotel is a little way from the city centre but they lay on regular free bus transfers and feels like a haven and welcome break from busy Saigon.
Cuca: "Amazing dining experience!!"
"This was without doubt one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. We've tried some incredible food in our travels, however the presentation and flavor in the food at Cuca was exceptional.
I'm glad we didn't do the tasting menu, as between 4 of us we managed to order almost everything on the menu (so more dishes than the tasting menu), and it was hard to fault any.
The pork bun is a must. The butterfly flsh is different and soooooo good! The squid was exceptional and the squid ink risotto is an interesting take on the dish, well worth trying if you like squid!! Also the ceviche was stunning!!"
Mathis Retreatco: "Your success howerver you want it: from very quite to exploratory"
"It is our second stay at the Mathis retreat (Kenanga last year) and the manageress; Karne, has maintained a charming atmosphere with excellent food, very kind staff and excellent service. While stilll close to Ubud, the hotel surrounding is peaceful with rice fields mixing lush greens with mirror images of the sky. The swimming pool is large enough to play or exercise. The path next to the hotel is a lovely way to walk down to Ubud across the rice fields, the frogs, the birds, and the hard working farmers. from the many attractive excursions, we selected those that would drive us closest to the balinese people and their natural landscape. The Ayung river trekking was exotic enough, adjusted to our desires and capabilities on the spot; full of anecdotical explanations on the flora, fauna and traditions, with a lunch stop at a traditional village with breathtaking Banian Trees (sacred trees next to temples) where we had a friendly conversation with a 3 generations family. Our daughter; a keen photographer; went for the sun rise on the rice fields for a full 360 degrees sensation, and reaching those remote places as a motorbike passenger was an extra bonus.
And we are still so far from having exploited all the possibilities, that you may be sure to find us there next year."
"What an incredible stay at Villa Song. From the moment we arrived the staff ensured everything was 100% perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The area is amazing, lots of cool bars and restaurants. It's about a 20 min drive from the city, but the hotel has a boat that takes you right in and brings you right back in about 10 mins max. The rooms were beautiful as was the pool area. We also had the best cocktail we've ever had here. Bar was superb. Can't recommend this place enough - will never stay anywhere else in Ho Chi Minh.
Stayed February 2017, traveled with family"
The late night champagne cruise to welcome 2018 was great. The "tapas"-like menu was delicious and creative and the champagne, cocktails and service were great, too! My only wish is that there had been some 'kanom' (sweets) at the end.
"The island lodge is a very special place. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like welcomed guests.
We did the bike/boat tour with Michael through the banana plantations and seeing the locals going about their daily life, not another tourist to be seen.
Every body is very friendly. And the whole lodge is beautiful.
We will definitely return to the island lodge if visiting Vietnam."
