We Care

The owners of Summertime and Solita are strong advocates of sustainable tourism. For the past 30 years they have scouted for and supported heritage properties, and eco-friendly resorts in India, working mainly with small, family run places and encouraging them to hire local staff.

They previously supported Balika Sadan, an orphanage for girls in Jaipur and helped them to build extra space in the dormitories, get water tanks and refrigerators, and took the girls on recreational trips. For a number of years, they also helped the people in Chandelao, a small village near Jodhpur by donating solar cookers, creating basic infrastructure in their school, and helping to empower women. Today, the village has an arts and crafts centre, which is run by women who make many items including clothing and handbags.
