Serious Eats in Bali

With the theme ‘Spice Up the World’, Ubud Food Festival, happening every year in Bali, challenges chefs and restaurants to serve up events rich in culinary heritage this 26th – 28th April 2019.
Heading to the festival? Don’t miss these highlighted programmes with Secret Table Chefs. (And check out all Secret Tables in Asia here!)

26th April 2019

Experience the culinarily curious and learn about umami and acidity from Felix Schoener and Secret Table Chef, Eelke Plasmeijer from Locavore. Enjoy a multi-course menu with paired cocktails at LocaLAB.

Could this be the festival’s most fragrant Kitchen Stage session? From Bangkok’s Michelin-starred Le Du, Chef Ton creates progressive Thai dishes rooted in tradition.

27th April 2019

Chef Ton (from Le Du, Thailand), Darren Teoh (from Dewakan, Malaysia), Jimmy Lim Tyan Yaw (from JL Studio, Taiwan), and Jordy Navarra (from Toyo Eatery, Philippines) will join forces and to each create two authentic dishes from their homeland. Don’t miss the chance to taste them all!

Darren Teoh from Dewakan creates modern Malaysian cuisine sourced from its seas, farms, mountains and jungles. Using indigenous Malaysian ingredients such as petai, kulim and perah, he’ll share some of the creative processes behind his food from the gods.

 28th April 2019

After the foragers and farmers have shared their finest, Eelke Plasmeijer’s Locavore team will be joined by Chef Ton, Darren Teoh and Jimmy Lim Tyan Yaw. Ingredients foraged will be presented, and each chef will create one snack and one dish.
