Tugu Lombok: "peaceful, wonderful, memorable"
"I was very lucky, because I won Tugu Raffle ticket in 2015, and we could stay for free for 2 nights at any Tugu Properties, and we choose Tugu Lombok. And we couldn't be happier. Even though we stayed there for free, the Tugu People didnt treat us any less than their high standard of service. I ve stayed at Tugu Malang few times, been to all their restaurants in Jakarta, so I have experienced of how good their services were, but tugu lombok service was exceptionally great! from the moment we arrived, we were greeted by lovely Sharron, their GM, mba Hani, the manager, and pak Hendri.. all of them were calling us by first name during our stayed, and Pak Faisal from the restaurant too... they were such a nice people..I was traveling with my husband and my 4 yo boy. and even my boy commented on how nice the people in Tugu lombok. they were very attentive and they made sure that we enjoyed our stay by always asked us whether we need any assistance, without being annoying. we stayed at ampenan 6, and in front of the room, there was a big field of grass garden, and at the end there was a swimming pool and the beach. my boy loves to swim at the swimming pool, as well as swimming at the ocean next to the swimming pool, with the local kids (he kept talking about that experience). The beach is nice, with its long white sand. it was lovely walking around the beach (the have the swing and hammock too at the beach, under the big trees). the Ampenan room itself was very cozy, big, with a high ceiling, and not creepy at all. very clean and beautiful. they have a semi outdoor bathroom with a small green garden next to the bath room.
for the food : I always love Tugu's restaurant, anywhere I go, i never disappoint with the quality of their food. and we were very happy that Tugu Lombok restaurant matched our expectation. we had the best ayam taliwang in tugu lombok's restaurant ( a must try!!). on a second night, we wanted to have dinner on the beach, but when we try to to book to have diner at the beach in the morning, the reservation was full. when we came to the restaurant later that night for dinner, we met Pak Faisal and Pak Faisal said : let me try to get you guys a place on the beach, and apparently Pak Faisal set up the gazebo next to the beach, right at that moment, with all the candles, so we can have our dinner at the beach. very impressive service!! .. and on saturday morning, my boy got to witness baby turtles being release on the beach next to the restaurant ..a rare occasion ... we also had a pleasant experience riding the bicycle around Tugu lombok. We really enjoy our stayed at Tugu Lombok. and we look forward to come back!!"
Rachamankha: "Imagine you’ve got a very wealthy friend"
".... and this friend invites you to stay at their house in Chiang Mai while they're away. You arrive crunching over the white gravel to a beautiful grand house, away from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai. Your friend puts their staff at your disposal and says, feel free to use the pool, no one else does, oh and there's a decanter of brandy in the library if you fancy it while reading some books and magazines. This is what it's like staying at Rachamankha. Plus: Library! Breakfast (beautiful, tasty and endless)! Pool! Ambience! Downsides: rooms are OK, but no views, woken by dogs barking from neighbouring property, shower head too low if you're over 5ft10 and you can hear your neighbour going to the toilet in the next door room. Maybe I'm being too picky ...."
"The menu and service was superb! The place is quiet and full of character. My father had difficult to manage the stairs to get up to the restaurant, so the managers arranged for us to have dinner downstairs. we were served hand and foot by our incredibily humber and eager to serve waiter Imran, who was both polite, discrete. I don't recall the last time we had such wonderful service, Imran was great! My father who is very high maintenance, even complimented Imran and said, its wonderful to be served by someone who understands the etiquette of the table. When we were leaving, we shocked by Imrans humility when after running up and down the stairs all evening and attending to our every need, said ""please forgive me if I made any mistake serving you tonight! Fine dining and fine service with an excellent menu and a place full of character! Stayed December 2016, traveled with family"
THE ISLAND LODGE: "Calm, quiet and very very nice"
"This is a secret paradise with french couple Michel and Francoise being the perfect hosts. Service is extremely friendly, present and polite. Rooms are clean and very very cosy all having a great view over pool and the river.
Cuca: "Foodies: move over to this place"
"""It is all about the taste"" is Cuca's slogan and that is exactly what they offer. We had the chef's selection menu (9 dishes) and we loved every dish. Our favorites were the smoked butterfish and the roasted pork buns. To be honest, it was a very long time ago that I used my fingers to scrape the last bit of sauce of the plate after we finished the dish but here I just had to do it; so delicious! It's a pity that they do not offer matching wines with every dish (what we would have loved) but maybe it is better not to drink wine but just water to experience the tastes of the dishes better. We loved it."
"This place is an absolute must.
Chef Ton is a magician, he gave me 3 types of watermelon as an amuse bouche.
I tasted sea bass with lime snow( Devine)
There were oyster sabayons, pickled gourd, river prawns and everything was cooked with a light modern touch and confidence.
The service was smooth, and slick.Every dish and wine was fully explained.
The decor is minimal, the location is down a small alley next door to namsooth bottling plant.
The booking was done via Mr Tao who squeezed us in.
Many thanks to the entire team .
I will return"
Excellent restaurant in a beautiful garden. The food (local Lao food) was excellent and the service was also very good. We ended going there in four of our six nights in Luang Prabang.
CABOCHON: "French Indochine Chic"
"This hotel is set in an elegant period building down a quiet lane. It has a 1920s period styling with a bit of big game hunter and French colonialism thrown in for good measure. It's not an all-out luxury hotel. It's more an experience hotel, and I had a great experience. IT's like going back in time to a by-gone period which a jarring and interesting juxtaposition from the hustle and bustle happening less than 100m on Sukhumvit. Choose this for a unique boutique experience in central Bangkok. "
