Jing’s Residence is a charming, tranquil boutique hotel inside the walls of Pingyao, the beautifully preserved financial capital of the Qing dynasty. The hotel has a small number of rooms, perhaps a dozen, each a bit different one from the other spread over the two floors of a multi-court yarded Chinese villa. The decor throughout is designed to soothe with warm earth tones, modernist, Asian inflected furniture and soft wood accents. There is a lovely seating area and library on the second floor, accessed by a superb curved wood staircase. (…) Jing’s Residence is a perfect complement to ancient Pingyao and well worth its moderate, by U.S. standards, cost. It will bring tranquility to any patron, no matter how hard the travel.
