Chef Baker immerses himself in new cultures and communities, accessing their traditions through the universal language of food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.secret-retreats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/gavin-baker-300x0.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.secret-retreats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/gavin-baker-300x0.jpg\" alt=\"gavin-baker-300x0\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He researches <strong>disappearing foodstuffs and techniques<\/strong>, documenting the entire process. Chef Baker and a team of local cooks then join forces in the test kitchen, reinventing the food as modern cuisine. The result is an altogether unique culinary experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chef Baker will hand-craft a number of dinners, culminating in a <strong>12-course<\/strong> tasting menu <strong>featuring unknown and forgotten local foods<\/strong>. This multi-sensory experience will be the result of several months of on-site research and development at Misool Eco Resort as a part of <a title=\"The Mist Project\" href=\"http:\/\/themistproject.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chef Baker&#8217;s Mist Project.<\/a><br>\n<em>Chef Baker\u2019s culinary career has spanned from managing Justin Timberlake&#8217;s LA restaurant on the Sunset Strip to teaching cooking in remote Himalayan villages. He has worked with the legendary Jean-Jacques Rachou in New York City, and also held one of the coveted sous chef positions at The Fat Duck, awarded the &#8220;Best Restaurant in the World&#8221; in 2005. He also managed the creation, construction, and operation of 5 high-end food outlets in Melbourne, Australia.
