Your Host & The Team

Thomas Peter“ In the late 70s, living in cold and chilly Switzerland, I read a magazine about Cambodia and the meritorious deeds of one Dr. Beat Richner, larger than life Swiss medical practitioner, who tried to piece together this war torn country. I was merely ten years old. I didn’t know where Cambodia was. In fact, I hardly knew anything about Asia. Fast forward 20-odd years later, I sat in a cavernous hall in Siem Reap and listening to a riveting lecture by the same Dr.Beat Richner who, pulling no punches, excoriated Western-based aid organizations for not doing enough to aid Cambodia. I was totally bowled over. I decided there and then that I had to do something for the country. Soon after, I established Heritage Line and duly named our first ship Jayavarman, as one of the hospitals of Dr. Richner was named after the god-king of Cambodia. Our second cruise ship was called Jahan.

An integral part of the itinerary of our guests would be to visit and assist communities that live along the Mekong and donate to the hospitals established by Dr. Richner. It is the least we can do to help our Cambodia friends.”
