Phajongkit & Thanaruek Laorauvirodge from Supanniga Home share:

"My mom always tells me this about Supanniga which I can really relate to now:
"Supanniga Home is something “SIMPLE” and it is where you can find the “Calmness & Tranquility” in your mind. Have you ever hear the leaves sing? You will realize the answer when you are here at Supanniga Home!"
I agree with my mom and I would like to share this simple charm to all of our guests. Secret Retreats are generous and simple places of conviviality."
Secret Retreats Host Puppet China and South East Asia
All of our properties are family owned—their captivating spirit is embodied by their hosts who often dwell there themselves. Illustrating this family spirit, Secret Retreats has commissioned Indonesian artist Edward Pasaribu to design a range of traditional puppets that reflect the inner essence of true Asian hospitality. Each region has its own special puppet.

Our Story

After his voyage, Kim grasps the mission that his father had assigned to him—informing contemplative travellers about idyllic locations containing exclusive properties, which unveil a true essence of Asia.

After 49 days of deep meditation under a Bhodi tree, Shakyamuni Buddha attained Enlightenment and awoke to describe the state of supreme liberation—Nirvana. Had he discovered Isan, a still to this day mysterious region in the east of Thailand?

I cross the countryside under a cinnamon sky, and suddenly I find myself on Suppaniga’s perfectly manicured lawns. Sitting under the shade of a mango tree, and dressed in a white sarong with an embroidered hem, my hostess invites me for a cup of Pu-erh tea. In the distance, I hear the gentle ringing of chime bells and birdsong. Afterwards, we walk together along a wooden path, which meanders through a vast domain filled with mature leafy plants and trees with deep, exposed roots. “Nature had its own language for those that take the time to listen to it,” she reveals.

Sitting comfortably in a large yellow sofa on the immense elevated teak deck, I soak in the wonderful views of the garden. I spot wide stemmed flowers sheltered under white umbrellas, an old wooden rickshaw and stool, a rattan chair, antique pottery. Centred around a four-poster bed adorned with lush Isan silk fabric, my contemporary design guestroom is luxurious. An antique blue porcelain tea service intermixes with modern furnishings. White and turquoise stones enhance the skylight in the bathroom, accentuated by water hyacinth.

Service here follows local culture, warm-hearted, respectful people who have an innate sense of hospitality. The local staff is delighted to orient travellers with their land, pleased to take guests on myriad different excursions, with the chance perhaps to meet along the way a few roaming monks here in East Thailand, where Buddhism still exists in its purest form. I accompany the chef on a food shopping excursion at the colourful market in Khon Kaen. Later that evening in the exquisite restaurant, I am delighted to taste wonderful regional cuisine prepared with intoxicating aromatic herbs.

Perpetually enlightening guests on local traditions and customs, Supanniga offers travellers a rare opportunity. A meditative voyage for those in search of true inner peace can be realised here—Supanniga shares this very essence.
