Your Host & The Team

“It took me three years to build my property at Ban Rai Chai Thung. The Thai-style buildings are made exclusively from teak wood and red wood. The gardens are dotted with waterfalls, koi fishponds, and teak wood sculptures and a state of the art swimming pool. I always look forward to sharing my little hidden secret with guests here in northern Thailand.”

We Care

House of Hope Orphanage - Taladmai Village
When was the project started? 2013

What are the Goals and Objectives?
  • House of Hope Orphanage is the care of hill tribe children who do not have parents or are from broken families.
There are around 35 children aged from 3 to 13 being cared for by the Christian Youth Charity Foundation. The children are from parentless homes or broken family homes in the mountainous region that borders Myanmar and Laos. The come from many different ethnic tribes with mother tongues far different from Thai which the need to learn at the Orphanage and at local schools. We support them financially and by way of ‘away days’ at the resort.
  • The Taladmai Village : in addition to employing local villagers in creating our beautiful landscape gardens, and maintenance of them, we are part of a community of expats living locally who provide financial support to those in the village who suffer from ill health due to age or disability and cannot receive aid from government sources.

Welcome to Chiang Mai

Surrounded by a moat and ancient wall in northern Thailand, and founded in 1296 by King Mengrai, Chiang Mai, is Thailand’s second-largest city. Previously known as Lanna Thai, this lush and fertile region seduces travellers with its rich traditions, colourful annual festivals, vibrant art scene, artisanal handicrafts that date back some 700 years (ceramics, silversmithing, silk and cotton, jewellery, furniture and hill tribe crafts), sumptuous spas, and varied cuisines.

Soft adventure activities comprise an excursion to the Burmese border through the scenic region, and a day spent with elephants either at an elephant sanctuary or trekking through the jungle. Golfers can play round on one of the numerous nearby courses. Other options include: visiting the city’s most famous landmark Doi Suthep Temple; taking a Lanna cookery course; and hiking in and around Thailand’s highest mountain at one of the nearby two national parks Suthep or Inthanon, whilst passing by remote hill tribe villages and forest temples along the way. More adventurous travellers can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, off-road motorcycling trails, and 4WD excursions. Offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere, laden with captivating experiences, Chiang Mai is a celebration of life’s beauty.
